Love Island producers are certainly in the habit of recruiting Islanders from famous families these days and if recent rumours are true then ITV is, once again, dusting off its little black book of famous fams for the 2024 summer series (which somehow is just weeks away).
Allegedly following in the footsteps of the likes of Love Island 2022's Gemma Owen (daughter of Michael Owen), Jack Keating (son of Ronan Keating) and Sophie Piper (sister of Rochelle Humes) is the daughter of a Real Housewives of Cheshire turned Celebrity Big Brother icon Lauren Simon – 19-year-old Gigi Simon.
Here is Lauren dressed as a prickly cactus. Why? We have no idea but we are here for it, and for pretty much everything Lauren does tbh.
Not only has the 19-year-old appeared on RHOCheshire (and recently spilled some major show tea exclusively with Closer), but she regularly popped up on Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother: Late & Live earlier this year in support of her famous mama and it's clear this one is hardly shy of the camera. Telly experience? Tick. Media training? Tick. Gorgeous? Tick.
A source recently told The Sun, "It’s early stages and she’s just in talks but Gigi is really keen to sign up.
"She’s obviously got ITV connections through her mum but if she does get on the show, it won’t be because of that."
While Gigi has not given any indication as to her alleged involvement, if we're being honest, we can't help but feel Lauren has been sharing her growing spotlight with her daughter for months now (Gigi frequently appears on Lauren's TV spots and on her social media), perhaps helping soft launch her solo debut this summer.
It's giving Kris Jenner energy and obviously we're utterly here for it.
Of course, this is all speculative right now and we're weeks away from knowing the true identities of our latest Islanders, but it's safe to say we'll be manifesting this one's inclusion because just imagine Lauren rocking up in the villa for the friends and family visit.
Insiders have claimed that Love Island 2024 will launch on Monday 3 June 2024 – which actually makes sense as historically (since 2017) the summer series has always kicked off in the first week of June.
Love Island 2024 will be the second series to air on on ITV this year, following a successful All Stars series – won by Molly Smith and Tom Clare – earlier this year.
