Being one of the stand-out stars of Love Island: All Stars (lest we forget that iconic 'Messy' Mitch Taylor man VS boy takedown), we keep forgetting that All Stars finalist Anton Danyluk was actually one of the OGs of arguably the most iconic series of Love Island ever, Love Island 2019.
The very same series that introduced us to the likes of Molly-Mae Hague, Maura Higgins, Tommy Fury, Amber Gill...we could genuinely name each and every Islander from that series, but we'll save on the word count and stop there. You get it, though, it was the Love Island of Love Islands and our Anton was a part of it.
He arguably had a better time in the 2019 villa than he did in the All Stars villa (what with all that drawn-out Georgia Harrison 'ick' drama). Here's a reminder...
Anton was an OG Islander on Love Island 2019 and originally coupled up with Amy Hart before she moved on to Curtis Pritchard.
During his time in the villa, Anton found himself matched with a few different contestants, including TOWIE star Elma Pazar and eventual winner, Amber.
But it wasn't until day 30 day that he met Belle Hassan and the couple stayed together until day 56 when they were ultimately dumped, just ahead of the final.
Doesn't sound too bad, eh? He certainly got to know a fair few Love Island girlies and we distinctly remember him being pally-pally with his "brothers" in the villa, so surely he's still in touch with the majority of the cast today, yeah? Wrong, in fact, according to the man himself, he's not in contact with any of them – and we're suddenly remembering that four of them were on Love Island: All Stars with him (Chris Taylor, Joe Garratt, Joanna Chimonides and Arabella Chi - wowzers that series was iconic). Awks.
While interviewing fellow All Star Tom Clare on his podcast, What's the Crack?, Anton revealed that he's not in touch with any of the Love Island 2019 boys or girls – and he's blaming egos.
TEA.
Anton said, "You always plan these [lads] holidays, I know I did it with my guys last time; some of the boys I was in with from the beginning and I thought my brothers for life."
Tom then asked Anton whether he speaks to any of the cast, to which Anton replied, "'No one, mate. It's really sad actually. Again I don't know whether that was a stage where our season was so big that a lot of people – including myself, by the way – when we went really above ourselves and went into our own lanes. So I think that the person we met in the beginning of the show...the people that left the villa were different people because their egos started getting affected."
We knew he probably wasn't going to be checking in with Molly-Mae Hague daily on WhatsApp, but not any of them?
Anton, we insist that we never lose touch; as in you and Closer online. When we say we're going for drinks after work, let's actually do it*.
*Said drinks have never been arranged, but a journalist can manifest, right?
