It may seem like just yesterday, but it’s actually been over ten years since TOWIE first hit our screens and made stars of Mark Wright, Lauren Goodger, Sam Faiers and co. Since then, the cast has changed a lot (like, A LOT) but we’ll never forget some of the show’s former cast members.
While Mark, Sam and loads of others TOWIE OGs are still a regular fixture on the telly box, it’s been a while since we’ve seen some cast members from years gone by on our screens. That doesn’t mean they’re not making major moves though; just look at Jasmin Walia.
The former reality star rose to fame when she joined TOWIE in 2012 and featured in some major storylines such as love triangles with Ferne McCann and her on / off boyfriend Charlie Sims, as well as Dan Osborne and Georgia Kousoulou. But, after three years on the ITVBe show, Jasmin quit to focus on her singing career, with an audition for The X Factor thrown in for good measure.
Despite not making it on the ITV singing show, Jasmin's music career has gone from strength to strength ever since she left TOWIE.

Although she was unsuccessful in auditioning for The X Factor in 2014, Jasmin’s music career has only gone from strength to strength since she quit TOWIE in 2015. She released single Dum Dee Dee Dum (a collaboration with Zack Knight) and Girl Like Me in 2016 and has since dropped plenty more tracks including Want Some, which has been played over 6.2million times since it was uploaded to YouTube in April 2020.
The former TOWIE star is now a full on worldwide famous pop-star and to prove it Jasmin shared her Spotify stats on Instagram and damn, she is crushing it.
You read that correctly, with over 36 MILLION streams and 8.2 MILLION listeners, Simon Cowell must be kicking himself.
Jasmin added the caption, "🥺❤️🎤 So many people didn’t believe in me and probably still don’t… we just getting started 🌎🚀," to her Spotify screen-shot and we have to say, whoever didn't (and still doesn't) believe in Jasmin have clearly lost the plot as the numbers don't lie, babes.
Jasmin didn’t completely leave reality TV behind when she left TOWIE as she later appeared on Sky’s Desi Rascals alongside her then-boyfriend Ross Worswick, who you might recognise from Ex on the Beach. The couple dated for two years and even discussed marriage before sadly splitting.
Most recently, Jasmin made history when she became the first British Indian female singer to feature on a billboard in Times Square to promote her single Want Some.

Jasmin joined the cast of TOWIE in 2012 alongside her brother Danny. The pair made their first appearance in series seven, although Danny only appeared on the show for two seasons. Jasmin starred on TOWIE for three years and appeared in seven seasons.
Her major storylines involved love triangles with Dan and Georgia as well as a romance with Chloe Sims’ brother Charlie following his split from Ferne. Jasmin also dated James Argent (who could forget the time he ran from her house after meeting her family?), Kirk Norcross and Charlie King.
During her time on the show, Jasmin was best friends with Abi Clarke.

Jasmin quit TOWIE in 2015 to pursue a full time career in music. She announced the news on Twitter, writing, “I can confirm that I am taking a break from filming #TOWIE but would like to thank everyone involved with the show, producers, crew & cast x.”
When was Jasmin Walia on The X Factor?
Jasmin auditioned for The X Factor in 2014 when she was still a cast member on TOWIE.
She sang Clean Bandit’s hit Rather Be and Cascada’s Every Time We Touch in front of judges Louis Walsh, Mel B, Cheryl and Simon Cowell, with her audition airing on spin-off show The Xtra Factor, but sadly the panel weren’t impressed.
“Jasmin, can I be honest with you? You haven’t got a great singing voice. You really haven’t,” Simon told her, before Louis added, “It wasn’t good enough. It would be unfair to put you through.”
Still, Jasmin’s had the last laugh as her career has taken off since the show.

Jasmin performed at Nick Jonas' lavish three-day wedding to Priyanka Chopra in Jodhpur, India in 2018. She made a special appearance at their sangeet ceremony and sang alongside LMFAO and Zack Knight.
According to one wedding guest who took to Instagram after the wedding, Jasmin had everyone "mesmerised with her voice". Take that, Simon Cowell.
