The latest series of Love Island has blessed us with some cutesy couples – Will Young and Jessie Wynter, Tanya Manhenga and Shaq Muhammad, winners Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan, and of course, runners-up, Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall.
Lana and Ron, in particular, remind us of that couple who met on the first day of college or university, stayed together the WHOLE time, got engaged in their very early-20s, got married a year later, had a baby a year later, had another baby a year later and probably have a shared album of their kids which they share with all their painfully single friends. Maybe they've set up a small side-business together, too; something in property.
Above all, they're the couple that like to ask their said single friends time and time again, 'Are you dating anyone?', already knowing the answer.
With the utmost respect, that is how we see Lana and Ron's trajectory going and we only sound bitter because we are.
As such, we somewhat anticipated that their Closer's Love Island Secrets interview might be a tad on the rehearsed and predictable side (no shade). In our bitterness, we judged this romance book by it's cover and got it WRONG.
While filming at our London studios, we asked the lovebirds, "Are there any Islanders from previous seasons that you knew before you were on Love Island?"
Surprisingly, Ron revealed that he had a connection (not the Love Island kind - don't get too excited) with another famous Love Island blonde, long before Lana. He said, "So I actually knew Chloe Burrows. She used to work for a similar firm, so I've been on, like, a few nights out with her. I knew her from before."
Lana's a tough one to read, even for us superhuman showbiz journalists, so we can't tell you for sure whether Lana was privy to this news before hand. While Ron was talking Lana simply, said "Uh-huh", followed by, "I don't think I knew anyone."
Not that it matters, to be honest, as we can safely assure the world that we've seen and met Ron and Lana in person and they are the embodiment of wholesome and loved up. No doubt they'll be asking others if they're dating anyone for years to come.
Side note, we're not going to lie, now that we've imagined Ron and Queen Chloe on a boozy after-hours night out together, we need to make this happen again so that we can join in on the fun, because this is a Love Island party vibe.
