Love Island may as well be called Love Triangle Island at this point. Every season we get some messy triangles and honestly, it’s our favourite part of the show. Last year’s winners Jess Harding and Sammy Root found themselves in a triangle for a brief period when Sammy kissed 19-year-old Amber Wise. Sometimes we even get a sort of love square, like in Love Island 2018 when Adam Collard went from Kendall Rae Knight to Rosie Williams to Zara McDermott.
Love Island 2024 didn’t disappoint, and we had multiple triangles to choose from. Ronnie Vint was unsure whether to go for Jess White or Harriett Blackmore until Jess dramatically chose to exit that triangle at the firepit. Then, of course, we had Mimii Ngulube, Ayo Odukoya and Josh Oyinsan.
If you somehow missed it, Mimii and Ayo were an item until the boys were shipped off to Casa Amor. A Love Island tale as old as time.
While in Casa, Ayo met and fell for Jess Spencer, so when he returned to the main villa it was naturally a bit frosty for a while. Enter Josh Oyisan stage left.
Josh and Mimii hit it off and went on to win the £50k prize with over 41 per cent of public votes, beating out Ciaran Davies and Nicole Samuel, Sean Stone and Matilda Draper and Ayo and Jess.
However, even when Josh and Mimii were falling for each other, some fans thought she and Ayo still had a connection. Joey Essex and Sean were very vocal about this, but that’s another story.
So, how are Josh and Ayo now? We sat down with Josh to find out how he feels about Mimii’s former flame, especially now that he and Mimii seem to be stronger than ever.
Josh said, “We’re civil, you know, we’re cool. When I see him it’s not a problem at all, when we see him or Jess, it’s not a problem at all.
“We wish them the best, they look happy together and we want them to be happy.”
Josh truly is the unbothered king we didn’t know we needed. Based on this answer, it’s really no mystery how he won over both Mimii and the public despite being in the villa for just two weeks.
WATCH Ayo and Jess S apparently can't keep their hands off each other in the Love Island villa
Sarah O'Byrne has been writing about Love Island for heat and Closer since May 2023, and if it isn't clear enough, she voted for Josh and Mimii to win.
