She’s finally found happiness with fiancé Ryan Mahoney after enduring three rocky marriages, and a defiant Kerry Katona insists their romance will stand the test of time.

Kerry’s been dating the 32-year-old personal trainer for three years and celebrated their engagement in Spain last August, completing her remarkable life transformation from troubled starlet to a happy and confident mum-of-five.

And fittingly, the couple – who met on a dating app – have now set their sights on helping others find love by launching their own bespoke dating app, Marnii. The star, who is training to become a life coach, hopes her fairy-tale ending will inspire others.

She tells Closer, “People will say why would anyone turn to Kerry Katona for love advice, but I say, why not? I’ve had three failed marriages, but it’s about how you get back up. If I didn’t pick myself up from all the things I’ve messed up on, whether it’s divorce, addiction, drugs, bankruptcy and mental health issues, then technically I’d be dead!

“After George [her ex who tragically passed away in July 2019 after a suspected drugs overdose], the last thing I wanted was a relationship, but I didn’t give up on love. Now I want to show others it’s possible – if I can find love on an app, so can anyone!”

And she reveals she’s even playing Cupid with eldest daughters, Molly and Lilly-Sue. “Of course, my girls are on the app,” she laughs. “People forget Molly’s almost 20, and Lilly’s 18 – they’re grown-up girls and I want them to find happiness, too. The app was Ryan’s idea and we’d love to help people find love in lockdown.”

Kerry, 40, adds, “I wouldn’t be where I am now physically, emotionally, financially, and mentally if I hadn’t met Ryan. He’s had my best interests at heart from day one. He went from being a bachelor and holidaying in Marbella to becoming a stepdad to five kids. He fitted right in. I’d never have dreamed of going out with anyone younger than me – I couldn’t think of anything worse, but the moment I met him, his age was never an issue. Molly always takes the mick out of our age gap.”

Laughing, she adds, “I think he looks older than me anyway!”

The Atomic Kitten singer has made no secret of being “unlucky in love” in the past. She divorced first husband Brian McFadden – father of Molly and Lilly-Sue – following allegations he’d cheated. She then went on to have Heidi, 13 and Max, 12, with second husband Mark Croft but they split after three turbulent years of marriage with Kerry accusing him of being her drug dealer, which he denied. Her third marriage to former rugby player George Kay, father of six-year-old Dylan-Jorge, lasted nine months, amid claims he was violent.

Kerry shot to fame in 1999, as 1/3 of pop band Atomic Kitten. It wasn't long before Kerry was swept into her first high-profile relationship – thanks to a well-timed tour with Irish crooners Westlife.During the tour, Kerry met Brian McFadden. Three months later he asked her to marry him.Shortly after he popped the question, Brian was quoted as saying: "Everything I plan, everything I do, revolves around Kerry. When I wake up in the morning, she's the first person I call."I've written a song about her called Fragile Heart. I write songs for Kerry every day, I get so much emotion thinking about her."It wasn't long before Kerry and Brian welcomed their first child: in August 2001, daughter Molly was born.

They married in the celebrity wedding of the year in 2002, surrounded by friends, family and a collection of the country's biggest celebrities.Just a year after becoming husband and wife, Kerry and Brian's second daughter, Lily-Sue, was born. But a lavish wedding and two babies weren't enough to keep them together. In 2004 they shocked fans with the announcement of their separation, and to say things didn't end amicably would be an understatement.

They've both since moved on and Brian admitted to The Irish Sun that his relationship with his ex-wife is the best it has ever been. He explained: "We don't speak about everyday stuff but we do work closely with anything to do with our kids, the same as most separated parents it's always about the kids."Our relationship is the best it has ever been. There are no fights or arguments, it's all good now. It's taken a long time to get there but I'm glad it's like that."

Back in 2007 it was reported that Kerry and Ziggy once dated. A source told Reveal magazine: "Zak loves partying and is a big character on the club scene, so they had a real laugh together. "It didn't last long because Kerry was definitely still on the rebound. She wanted to keep their relationship secret in case she got back together with Brian."However Kez has since denied it, which is a shame because he's fit.

Soon after Kerry was engaged again – this time to Dave Cunningham. However their happiness was short lived, and they split after having huge bust-up in Spain. It was reported at the time that Dave had been seeing his ex-girlfriend behind Kerry's back, leaving her heartbroken.A source told the People: "Because her private life has been made public before, she made a pact not to discuss the split. She is desperately trying to put on a brave face."It's bad enough dealing with a traumatic break-up under normal circumstances never mind dealing with it when you're Kerry Katona."Again it wasn't long before Kerry had found comfort in the arms of a new man.

Since their split Dave has been pretty M.I.A and despite their breakup it seemed that Kerry was still fond of him. She explained to Closer magazine how close he was to her daughters Molly and Lilly-Sue: "I don't know what Brian's doing from one day to the next - the girls hardly see him."They'd started to call Dave dad. He's so wonderful to the girls. He's been a dad to them and done so many amazing things because their dad isn't around."

It was also during her marriage to Mark that Kerry made her infamous This Morning appearance, when her slurring and erratic behaviour sparked concern with host Phillip Schofield and with viewers.Later it was revealed that Kerry was battling a cocaine addiction, and she's since admitted that she'd go on 'three-day coke binges' with Mark. She said: "I hated my life. I'd lie in bed for three days in a row doing cocaine with Mark. We did coke in our en suite and had a lock on the door. The kids knew if the bathroom door was locked they mustn't come in."

Kerry and Mark split in 2010, two years after she was declared bankrupt, and he later publicly admitted he 'bled her dry'.During an interview with the Daily Star, Kerry confessed she'd almost ended her life while married to Mark. But, she says having the names of her eldest daughters tattooed on her wrists stopped her, as it stopped her from self-harming."If I was ever to do that it would mean cutting through my kids' names. And what a selfish mother I would be to do that. Like any mother, my first love and priority are my children, above everything and everybody."

Following her split from Mark, Kerry attempted to rebuild her media career and avoided high profile relationships for a few years.Kez has recently admitted that just days before she accepted Mark's proposal she begged ex-husband Brian McFadden to take her back. She's said the only reason she married her second husband was because he was her mum's drug dealer and she "thought she was going to get drugs for free."

Steve is so perfect and I cant believe how lucky I am."We had an amazing time in Dubai but, after two messy marriages, I'm not desperate to get hitched again."But I'd never say never - Steve recently moved in and I finally feel so happy. We get on so well."However a month later she broke up with him. A source told The Sunday People: "She has made her mind up and Steve's pretty gutted. She is a party girl and loves being outrageous whereas he is a gentlemen."Kerry was smitten at first, she loved that he wasn't interested in all the celebrity glitz and glamour."Since then Steve has continued with his career as an artist.

Ryan and Kerry split in October 2018 following a make-or-break holiday in Thailand. Kerry had posted a selfie of her and a fit looking Ryan days after ranting about "fat" Brian McFadden . They reconciled following Kerry's appearance on Celebs Go Dating in 2019.

Now Kerry says her relationship with Ryan is a world away from her troubled past. She confesses, “Every relationship I had before was very fake. It’s been lovey-dovey pictures, saying ‘Ooh I’m so in love’ when really I was so unhappy and having to justify the actions of my partners, whether they were cheating, having breakdowns or taking drugs. I was faking it for so long, but with Ryan, I don’t have to prove anything. It’s so nice to be with someone who doesn’t care about fame. After three years, we’ve only just got engaged. Normally by then, I’m already divorced.”

Kerry praises Ryan for helping her pick up the pieces after George died. “Ryan held me in his arms. I thought I was having a nervous breakdown and my doctor had to come out. I had so many mixed emotions, but he was so supportive. Me and the kids wouldn’t have got through without him.”

Kerry also says she keeps George’s memory alive for the sake of their daughter. The star explains, “DJ was hard to win over at first, she was only three when Ryan came into her life and she’d lost her daddy. We sit and talk to her about George and tell her stories. She clings to Ryan now and she idolises him.

“He might be eight years younger, but Ryan’s mature enough to understand my past. I’ve told him all about my exes, whether it’s been sexual or anything else. He understands I’m in the public eye. Ryan’s even spoke to Bryan on the phone and they got along great.”

She adds, “I wouldn’t want to hear or see pictures of Ryan’s exes, yet it’s rubbed in his face and he’s done so well with it.”

And despite expressing a desire in the past for a sixth baby, Kerry has no plans to add to her brood after developing the potentially-fatal condition pre-eclampsia while in labour with DJ.

“I nearly died when I gave birth to DJ, I physically wouldn’t be able to carry a child,” she says. “If we would have more, we’d do surrogacy, but we’re nowhere near that stage. We want to own a house first, and we already have a madhouse, with five kids. I’ve bought Ryan a dog, which he treats like a kid so that should be more than enough!”

And while her pal and fellow mum-of-five Jordan – aka Katie Price – has said she’d love “as many kids as my body can take”, Kerry laughs before adding, “I’m not like Kate – I don’t want another million kids! I’ve got two grown-up daughters who are already adults and I’m not sure I could cope with a newborn on top of everything. I love life the way it is!”

Kerry's view on mental health: ‘I struggle on a daily basis’

Kerry opened up last week about her mental health on social media, admitting that, despite being happier than ever, she still feels low from time to time.

She says, “I took this picture after I’d been crying for no reason. My life is the best it’s ever been, yet the night before, I’d been suffering with bad anxiety. I have bipolar too and I have my down days and struggle on a daily basis. I stayed in my bed all day and that’s when I know I’m depressed.

“For me, being in my bedroom is a massive trigger because it takes me back to being with my ex Mark and hiding away from the world. Ryan’s massively supportive and has had to learn a lot around about mental health and he’s had to put up with me. It’s important for me to share the down days with everyone as well as the good ones because you never know who it could help.”

Working with Appmi, Kerry and Ryan have launched Marnii to help singletons find their happy ever after. It’s available to download for iPhone and Android devices.
