If you know your reality telly like we do, then you already know that former TOWIE and two-time Love Island star Kady McDermott is a sure thing in the eyes of any producer. If you want the drama, Kady will bring it; if you want a blazing row over absolutely nothing, Kady will start that for you; if you need to fight an unstoppable Regina George with another Regina George, you want Kady McDermott in your show. Is it any wonder Love Island producers wanted her back for a second go at 'love' this summer?
Since leaving the Love Island 2023 villa, Kady has been doing the press rounds, spilling show tea and throwing some serious shade on various podcasts and web shows (including our very own heat Dates). If you watched the Love Island reunion on Sunday night you'll have witnessed how well finalists like Molly Marsh and Zachariah Noble took to her loose-lipped ways. You'll also remember Kady's final words to her former villa flame being, "Enjoy your fifteen minutes". As such, if you're a journalist for the likes of heatworld and Closer, Kady McDermott is the showbiz gift that keeps on giving – because she literally keeps giving. She speaks in headlines.
In fact, she's spilled so much tea and chucked about so much shade over the last couple of weeks, there's a high chance you might've missed some of it...
Earlier this week Kady appeared on Pete Wicks and Sam Thompson's podcast Staying Relevant and surprise surprise, the iconic bombshell dropped a few major, erm, bombshells. Ironically, Kady kicked off proceedings by revealing that she had cancelled several other podcast appearances because people, in her own words, "just think I'm talking too much". But, she decided to make an exception for long-time pals Pete and Sam, and thank the reality telly Gods she did because we have a news story quota to reach each day and in the last month 80 percent of our content has Kady McDermott related or adjacent.
To be honest, we've listened to so many Kady McDermott interviews now we truly understand the art of her specific style of shade-throwing; in that sometimes, it's what this Love Island queen doesn't say that speaks shady volumes.
In a general chit-chat about reality shows with Pete and Sam – shortly after she revealed that she didn't enjoy this series of Love Island as much as series 2 – Kady revealed, "I loved Made in Chelsea, by the way – biggest super fan ever. That is my favourite reality show."
Sorry, but do we detect some subtle shade being thrown at your former employees, TOWIE, there, Ms McDermott?
To be fair, she did add, "I love TOWIE as well, but Made in Chelsea, I'm sorry..."
Kady's TOWIE experience didn't exactly end well; she joined TOWIE during series 23 and caused quite a stir among Myles Barnett's ex-girlfriend Courtney Green and her pals. She only lasted one series and ended her stint with an explosive row with – shock of shocks – Amber Turner.
At the time, Kady told the MailOnline, "I was never a cast member on TOWIE, I came halfway through the last series to spice things up a little bit. Obviously, Myles' life is on TOWIE, he is one of the main cast members, I came on as I'm part of his life now."
TOWIE, this is your cue to go and do a Love Island and bring Kady back for round two. Pleases and thank yous.
