As much there’s tonnes of drama on the show, there’s actually been some pretty wholesome TOWIE friendships over the years. Mark Wright and James Argent had the ultimate bromance, while Amber Turner and Girl Band members Chloe Meadows and Courtney Green are as thick as thieves.
And then there’s Diags – or James Bennewith, as he’s known to his mum and dad – who’s friends with, well, pretty much everyone.
Diags is now TOWIE’s longest-running cast member and is well known for being besties with Dan Edgar, but he also had a pretty adorable friendship with Chloe Sims during her time on the show (which made for particularly awkward scenes when Dan and Chloe dated in Thailand a few years back).
Chloe and her siblings may have ditched Essex for LA, but it turns out she’s still close friends with Diags – even if she did get the hump with him recently.
Speaking exclusively to Closer online ahead of his appearance at immersive scare attraction PrimEvil, Diags explained how he’d recently incurred the wrath of Chloe after turning down a catch up with her in favour of a night out on the town.
He said, “I spoke to Chloe on a FaceTime call not long ago. I was actually meant to meet up with her and I ended up going out and not meeting her.
“She wasn’t happy with me whatsoever and she’s gone back to LA now.
“I’m actually quite sad about it because I did actually want to catch up, but we caught up on FaceTime.”
Thank goodness for that, we’d hate to see one of our fave TOWIE friendships in tatters. Plus, it can’t be fun to be in Chloe’s bad books.
It may seem just like yesterday, but it’s actually been 12 years since Diags first appeared on TOWIE – although he almost didn’t join the show at all.
“First of all, I wasn’t even thinking of joining the show right at the beginning,” he told us. “Then they convinced me otherwise and it went from there really.
“A lot of people have come and gone and I’m still there. I’ve just rode the whole way through.”
Diags was chatting to Closer ahead of the press night of immersive scare attraction PrimEvil, which is open between Friday 13 October and Saturday 4 November.
