Just like the rest of the nation, we love Coronation Street.

It's usually on every single but while we're in lockdown the schedule has been cut down to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Andy Whyment - aka Kirk Sutherland - recently spoke out about the pre recorded episodes and admitted that if they don't get back to filming in June, then ITV bosses will run out of episodes.

So we've decided to have a look at some of the most well-know Corrie stars - and hope they don't ever leave...

Ken Barlow (William Roache)

One of Corrie’s longest standing characters, Ken Barlow has seen many faces come and go on the cobbles. He appeared in the first episode back in 1960 where he soon made a name for himself as a bit of a love rat. His long standing love with wife Deirdre Barlow endured and the couple became parents to daughter, Tracey.

The real life death of actress Anne Kirkbride lead to Deirdre’s character being killed off, leaving a grief-stricken Ken as a widower. We wonder what’s next for one of Corrie’s best loved characters?

Gary Windass (Mikey North)

Gary's had quite the character change over the years. When he first arrived in the cobbles he was feuding with David Platt, he then went on to join the army and suffered with PTSD, he battled Tina McIntyre after she tried to steal his baby with Izzy Armstrong after she became their surrogate.

Fast forward to 2019 and it came to light that he was responsible for Rana Habeeb's death, he then killed Rick Neelan but in happier news he is dating Maria.

Maria Connor (Samia Longchambo)

Maria then dated a lot of the street's residents, including Jason Grimshaw, Nick Tilsley, Chris Grey, Aidan Shaw and Marcus Dent. She even married Argentinian Pablo Duarte in a sham ceremony to grant him residency in the UK.

She's currently dating bad boy Gary Windass following a messy love triangle with ex boyfriend Ali Neeson, and recently miscarried Gary's baby after contracting measles.

Steve first appeared on the cobbles at the age of 15. He had a troubled relationship with his father and was quite the tearaway as a teen.

Steve had an on/off romance with Karen Phillips and the couple have married and split twice over the years. Steve became a dad following a one night stand during his marriage to Karen with Tracy Barlow. Tracey gave birth to daughter Amy and the couple were embroiled in a bitter custody battle.

He was also linked to characters Ronnie Clayton and Becky Granger, but eventually found love with Rovers barmaid Michelle Connor. However, the marriage did not last, and Steve is now back with Tracy.

Chesney Brown (Sam Aston)

Chesney first appeared on screen in 2003 and he's been on the cobbles ever since. Over the years we've seen his rocky relationship with his mum Cilla, dad Les and sister Fiz following her relationship with John Stape.

He also had an emotional dog to his dog Schmeichel who had cancer, the breakdown of his relationship with Katy Armstrong and welcome quads with his girlfriend Gemma.

One of Corrie’s most recognisable characters, Gail McIntyre has certainly had her ups and downs. From messy divorces, affairs and being married to a serial killer she’s definitely seen it all.

Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford)

She has a bit of an evil streak, but Corrie wouldn’t be the same without Tracy Barlow bossing the cobbles. She first appeared in 1983 and Tracy’s character developed on camera.

She didn’t know her father growing up and was adopted by mum Deirdre’s husband Ken Barlow. She has had relationships with Roy Cropper, Steve McDonald and was married to Robert Preston.

She became a mum following an affair with Steve McDonald, giving birth to daughter Amy. Her and Steve are now back together.
