If you think all that brewingLove Island tea only gets spilled on Movie Night, you'd be wrong (in fact, you're not the Love Island fan we thought you were). Saying that, we do hope a few wet floor signs got put down on the villa lawn after last night's screening, cause phwoar.
In truth, the real, piping-hot Love Island tea is always spilled when our Islanders get dumped from the villa, touch down in London and begin their press rounds with the likes of yours truly; they're miles away from their other Islanders, free from whispering producers and surrounded by fab journalists like us lulling them into a false sense of security. We're joking, we're the nice ones.
During their Love Island 2023 press rounds last week, Mehdi Edno and Mal Nicol paid Cosmopolitan (also the nice ones) a visit. In an episode of Text on the Beach, they were asked, "What do you think of old Islanders, like Kady, coming back to Love Island?"
Credit where credit is due – that was a good question.
Saying that, it is the kind of question that a professionally media trained celeb could dodge with their eyes closed – but these two are only a week out of the villa (*evil cackle*). As such, Mal sort of – and we can't stress 'sort of' enough – came for Love Island 2016 finalist and Love Island 2023 bombshell Katie McDermott.
Mal responded, "Obviously, I love Kady..."
That kind of intro always sets off glorious alarm bells in our heads. 'She's lovely, but...' vibes...
Mal continued, "I do think it's a little bit unfair. Like, give [this] lass a chance – I was only in there for a week. No, she's so lovely, I just think it's hard to compete with someone that's got quite a big following. And, like, who am I?"
Oh, Mal... you're a hilarious style icon/legend who we used to share an office kettle with (seriously, she used to work with us, Google it). That's who you are.
Mehdi backed the Scottish bombshell up, adding, "I completely agree with Mal. You see a difference between this year's Islanders and the 'superstars', so yeah, I don't feel any time of way about it."
Get over it, people, because allow us to assure you this: Love Island producers will be doing this year after year until ITV is brave enough to launch Love Island: All Stars once and for all.
We'd call it something like Love Island: Single Stars, though.
Kady McDermott entered the Love Island 2023 villa on day 19 and tuned just about every head going for a hot minute. She was part of the original line-up for Love Island 2016 and finished in third place with Scott Thomas. Series 2 was won by Cara Delahoyde-Massey and Nathan Massey, who are still together and parents to Freddie and Delilah.
Kady is currently getting closer to Casa Amor bombshell Ouzy See. We'll see...
