Josie will celebrate her first Mother's Day as a mum this year
Josie Gibson would be the first to admit that the past six months have brought some of the most joyous as well as some of the toughest times of her life. The mum-of-one says having baby Reggie in September last year was the “best feeling in the world”, yet just three months later, she had to cope with the breakdown of her relationship with Reggie’s dad, Terry.
And as she approaches her first Mother’s Day, 34-year-old Josie admits that despite a turbulent start to motherhood, being a mum has brought her pure happiness.
“I’ve really, really struggled over the past few months,” she admits. “But having Reggie makes everything better. Nobody can prepare you for the love you feel for your children – he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
While the former Big Brother star admits she longs for a traditional family set-up, she says she doesn’t know what the future holds for her relationship. The couple split following a row just after Christmas, which resulted in property developer Terry packing Josie’s belongings and her moving into a hotel with Reggie. But while Josie says they are friends again now, she isn’t sure if they’ll get back together.

“I’d never bring a new man into Reg’s life,” she confesses. “I had my whole childhood with different men coming in and out of my life all the time, and I don’t want that for Reg – it made me feel insecure. It’s hard to find anyone who loves your child as much as you do, so I wouldn’t even try. That said, I’d be open to a date – I need some male attention!”

Josie and Terry currently split Reggie’s time between them, but Josie admits that despite classing herself as a single mum, she’s lucky her son’s father is involved.
“I’ve found it emotionally hard not having the support of a partner,” she explains. “It’s hard to get anything done as I can never just nip to the shops or have a shower – it is easier when there are two of you around constantly.”
And despite loving her new role as a mum, Josie does admit she struggles with the sleep deprivation.
“I’ve never been so tired in my life,” she laughs. “Reggie is a sleep thief! He goes down for naps during the day, but only ever 20 minutes or so at a time. You do get used to it though, and I try to remind myself that I can’t do everything – being a mum to a newborn is a full-time job!”
