Back in the day, we usually got not one but two episodes of TOWIE in a whole week – on Wednesdays and Sundays – but that soon changed when the show premiered on ITVBe and aired a hour long episode on a Sunday night. What better way to round off our Sunday with a visit to Brentwood to catch up with all the action?
What day is TOWIE on?
TOWIE usually airs on ITVBe at 9pm on Sunday evenings, however the show is in between series right now. Chloe Brockett recently confirmed that filming has been delayed due to to coronavirus restrictions but series 30 is due to take place later this year.
If you need a fix of Essex action before then, you can catch up on all previous series of the show on ITV Hub and ITVBe airs classic episodes every day.
When did TOWIE used to air?
Hardcore TOWIE fans will remember that the show used to air on Wednesday and Sunday, but were shorter episodes. Due to the cast filming their REAL lives, producers switched things up and decided to air a longer episode on Sunday.
Last year, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, it was rumoured that TOWIE was going to go back to two episodes a week to celebrate the show’s ten year anniversary.
However, this ended up being all rumours, as Paul Mortimer, ITV’s head of digital channels said, "After 10 years, TOWIE is still going strong and remains the number one show on ITVBe. We're thrilled to be welcoming back new and old faces for the upcoming mega-series as the show celebrates this special anniversary."

Jake Hall, series 14 -17
Jake's time on TOWIE was mainly characterised by his on / off relationship with Chloe Lewis and his alleged cheating on her. He finally (sort of) confessed that he'd done the dirty with Megan McKenna in a very emosh scene on a park bench. Ah, precious memories.

Who is still on TOWIE?
Last September and out of the blue, TOWIE bosses announced that the new series will be different and won't include the entire cast that featured on the latest season.
Sharing a statement on social media they explained, "TOWIE will be evolving with some changes."

The statement continued, "As it looks ahead to future series, the next instalment of our BAFTA award winning show returns to Essex to follow a smaller group of cast members."
They added, "This change allows our cast more time to film their real lives, showing more of their personal passions and professions, alongside their strong bonds and dynamics with family and friends ✨".
Before the statement was issued, insiders teased that axing cast members was because the show wanted to go back to basics and focus on a group of smaller characters instead of a big group. Check out who is still on the show here.
