Rochelle Humes and Marvin Humes have regularly stepped in to present This Morningas guest hosts – with Rochelle filling in for Holly Willoughby amid her departure from the show last week, and insiders say former The Saturdays star Rochelle, 34, and her husband Marvin, 38, are keen to be hired as permanent new hosts of the ITV show in their mission to be “the next Richard and Judy”.
A source says, “Rochelle and Marvin are on a mission to replace Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby and feel after all the years of stepping in to guest-host the show, they finally deserve their big break.
"This is something they’ve always wanted to do and Rochelle has made it clear with producers that she won’t be a substitute forever, insisting she and Marvin have what it takes to revive the show and get it back to what it was in the golden days.”
Since Holly announced her departure, rumours have been swirling about who will replace the former King and Queen of daytime telly – with current hosts Craig Doyle, Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary said to be in the running, alongside Davina McCall, Lisa Snowdon and Amanda Holden.
With Love Is Blind host Emma Willis, 47, and her husband Busted star and actor Matt Willis, 40, also said to be in the running, pals say Rochelle – who shares three children with the former JLS star – is on a mission to fight off the competition.
The source adds, “Rochelle knows they’re up against some amazing talent, but believes she and Marvin have the edge – telling execs how they not only have their own fanbases from their pop star days, but have already proven to be popular with viewers.
“Rochelle has been quietly gathering support behind the scenes and is hoping they get the deal they’ve been secretly wanting for so long – and be given the chance to put the spark back into the show.”
