On screen while one helped cover up his own sister's murder, the other died tragically as a victim of domestic abuse. While the duo were never seen onscreen together, off screen it looks like things are a lot rosier between them.
Ex-Eastenders stars Jessica Plummer, who played Chantelle Atkins and Ben Hardy, who played Peter Beale have seemingly confirmed their rumoured romance after being spotted getting cosy in central London.
According to The Sun, the actors got close this summer while filming BBC One’s new drama "The Girl Before".
The new couple were first spotted together this summer at singer Jake Bird’s London gig, before photos emerged this week of the loved up pair enjoying a romantic date.
With Ben kissing Jessica before she got into a large black SUV outside London’s swanky Soho House.
The couple could be seen getting very cosy, speaking closely as well as a sweet embrace with Ben’s hugging Jessica close to him.
According to the publication, the two had dropped hints of a romance after liking each other’s Instagram picture.

Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale Christmas 2021: the 11 most incredible moments
After Jessica's character was murdered by her serial killer husband Gray Atkins, she went on to star on last year's I’m a Celebrity ...Get Me Out Of Here! and placed seventh.
Meanwhile after leaving his role as Peter Beale behind, Ben has gone on to take Hollywood by storm, starring in Bohemian Rhapsody and X Men: Apocalypse alongside Jennifer Lawrence.
Jessica is mum to six-year-old daughter Noa, who she shares with her ex-boyfriend, while Ben split from ex-girlfriend, actress Olivia Cooke, earlier this year.
At the time a source told the publication, "Olivia and Ben were smitten to begin with but the intensity soon fizzled out. They’re at pivotal points in their acting careers and just couldn’t make it work."

Eastenders actor Max Bowden, who plays bad boy Ben Mitchell, recently thanked friends for their help during his recent struggles. The star took to Instagram to share the sweet note left for him by the show’s costume department in a bid to raise the actors' spirits.
The note read, "Hey Max, just wanted to say we know that you’re not great at the moment, but we are always here if you need a rant or a cry. Keep doing your best because we think you’re great. Lots of love, Annie, Inca, Becky and Meg (costume)."
Max has had a heart breaking year following the sad loss of three close friends, as well as splitting from long term girlfriend Danielle McCarney.
In September the actor took to Instagram to thank Maxwell Alexander Grey Thompson for being his "best friend for 15 years". While didn’t specify the circumstances under which his friend passed, he wrote, "The hole in my life you have left will never ever be filled".
However, following his incredibly difficult time, Max went Instagram official with his new girlfriend Roisin Buckle last month.
"Roisin has been a great comfort to Max, who's suffered a lot of heartbreak recently, with the loss of a close friend in June, and then devastatingly his best friend last month," an insider told MailOnline.
