Break-ups are hard at the best of times, let alone when you’re a TOWIE cast member and your heartbreak is being played out on national television every Sunday night – so we must admit we feel a bit sorry for Amber Turner and Dan Edgar.
Dan and Amber announced they'd split in May after six years together and it’s definitely not been a straightforward split, with Dan and Amber having to navigate cheating rumours, moving out of their shared home and joint custody of their dog.
Although viewers saw them come face-to-face on TOWIE, both Dan and Amber have remained fairly tight lipped when it comes to speaking out about their split in public.
Amber also currently staring in the toughest reality show on TV, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, alongside the likes of Danielle Lloyd, Gareth Gates, Love Island’s Montana Brown and fellow TOWIE star James ‘Arg’ Argent, and we caught up with her to discuss what went down when they filmed in Vietnam.
When asked if she’d been able to apply anything she’d learnt on the show to her everyday life, Amber replied, “The only thing that happened after the show was me and my boyfriend broke up and that's about it.”
So, did Celebrity SAS teach her any coping mechanisms?
“If anything, it made me think ‘f**k this shit,’” Amber told us.
Fair enough, hun.
Amber also revealed why filming Celeb SAS was so different from filming TOWIE and, no, it wasn’t just because she traded in a blowdry and brunch at Brentwood Kitchen for being blindfolded and falling out of a plane.
“Danielle [Lloyd] felt a bit like she was like my big sister,” Amber explained.
“Normally on TOWIE I feel like I'm the one that looks after all the girls and I'm like, the defender of all my friends.
“So, it was quite nice to have someone that was older than me to sort of take the role that I normally take.”
She added, “Siva [Kaneswaran from The Wanted] was a sweetheart as well.”
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins begins on Tuesday 26 September at 9.30pm on Channel 4.
