EastEnders fans have been left reeling as James Willmott-Brown returns to the soap after 25 years in a shock storyline.

We KNEW Max Branning was up to something dodgy.

But not even Max has quite yet grasped the severity of what he's done by bringing his old prison cellmate Luke back to Walford.

After collecting him from the prison where he himself spent time in a wrongful imprisonment for the murder of Lucy Beale, he brought him back to the Square where his sister Fi Browning - Max's business partner - was waiting for him.

But Max wasn't expecting to also meet Luke and Fi's father - his mystery boss.

Who has turned out to be none other than one of the most evil soap villains in TV HISTORY - James Wilmott-Brown.

You might remember James from the 80s and a brief stint in 1992 after he was released from prison.

Why was he prison, you might ask?

Well we'll tell you. He raped Kathy Beale.

So NOW it makes sense who's been effectively stalking Kathy for the past few episodes - it was him all along with the help of his devious offspring.

Whilst we can hate Max as much as we want for bringing this back to poor Kathy's door, it should be noted that he didn't actually know who James is or his connections to Walford.

All he knows is that he claims to be a wronged man - like Max.

Whilst we don't know exactly what James and Max are planning, we do know that he's going to try and "take over" the Square.

Show bosses said: "A story of power, control, money and revenge will unfold as he and his family attempt to destroy everything and anyone in their way.

"What remains to be seen is how much each of those involved knows, and how far each will go."

Oh heck. We don't like the sound of this.

William Boyle, who plays Willmott-Brown, said: "I'm delighted to immerse myself once more in the fascinating world of soap land."

Eek!
