After over a decade writing about Love Island we've learned of some pretty bizarre show rules; and when we say 'bizarre', we mean totally BONKERS.
For example, did you know that Islanders are not allowed to discuss the outside world in the villa? No? How about Islanders being banned from smuggling halloumi into the villa or the super strict masturbation ban?
You heard.
We've heard some utterly bizarre Love Island rules over the year (and some, to be fair, that totally make sense), but this latest one has gone right to the top of the list of the bizarre...
It's about showering in the villa, and it comes direct from Love Island 2024 hunk Hugo Godfroy (the sexy one with the chin fuzz who managed to turn the head of one Jess White in Casa Amor).
Now, when it comes to a dozen or so men and women sharing one bathroom, two toilets and two showers we understand a few rules are necessary, but this one, frankly, makes no sense.
In an exclusive chat with Closer online, Hugo revealed that Islanders are forbidden from talking to one another while they're showering...
"So, obviously, you can't wear your microphones when you shower, so obviously, we weren't allowed to talk, so if you got caught talking you'd get in trouble."
Okay, when you explain it like that, we sort of get it. It falls into the same category as the rule that forbids Islanders from wearing microphones in the pool. But still, the idea that an Islander could get told off by the Love Island 'voice of God' for saying 'pass the conditioner' to another Islander three metres away brushing their teeth makes us chuckle.
Hugo and Jess spilled a giant teapot full of tea when they paid us a visit at Closer HQ this week. In addition to revealing this bizarre af showering rule, the couple revealed what Love Island producers banned them from talking about, Hugo lifted the lid on his connection with TOWIE's Ella Rae Wise, Jess revealed which cast mate got the most ‘unfair’ edit, as well as speaking out on the Islanders doing bits in the villa...
That last one's extra spicy, so read with caution in this hot weather.
