To say we're looking forward to a new series of Love Island coming into our lives on Monday 3 June would be like saying we're partial to a mild gossip here at Closer online. It's in our diaries in capital letters – and we mean for the next couple of months.

Closer caught up with each and every one of our new summer obsessions on Zoom this week (while they're in hiding doing nothing but gymming and watching Netflix for hours on end) and we're pretty confident we have not just a good series on the horizon, but a truly exceptional one. Of course, the Love Island 2024 Islanders are absolute stunners, but their personalities are also electric, and together, we predict everything from the formation of lifelong bonds to utter carnage.
One of these soon to be icons is Nicole Samuel, who hasn't even made her villa debut yet and is already hitting headlines for an alleged connection with another Islander – Love Island 2023/Love Island USA/Love Island Games legend, Scott van-der-Sluis.
While speaking to Closer and other publications, Nicole addressed her 'friendship' with Scott head on confirming...that she's never actually met him. Classic.
She told us, "I don't know him. I've seen him on a night out but I don't know him, no." So, in reality, Closer online has a closer relationship (pardon the pun) with Scott than Nicole does.
When asked if she knew any other former Islanders, Nicole – who is from Aberdare in Wales – confirmed, "Obviously, Liam Reardon lives close to me, but I don't know him either."
No doubt by this time next year you'll have rubbed shoulders with him at dozen or so times at PLT, eBay and SHEIN parties, so let's revisit this then, yeah, Nicole?
