Love Island series two star Kady McDermott’s shock return to the villa has seen her stealing men, ruffling feathers and immersing herself into the girl gang.
And former Islander Georgia Steel – one of the breakout stars of Love Island 2018 and known for her catchphrase “I’m loyal!”– tells Closer that seeing her close pal head into the villa has made her consider a second visit too.
Georgia – who met Kady through showbiz events – says, “This series is so much fun. Since Kady’s gone in there, it’s really gone up a notch. I back my girl – I think she can win, we’ll see who with.
“And you know what? If I was completely single and had the potential of meeting a life partner, then I’d go back – why not? When I was 19, I went in there for fun – I was young, like Kady was. I’ve definitely changed! Who hasn’t changed from 19 to 25?
“Now I’m older and I don’t want to be wasting my time so I would go in with a serious head on my shoulders.
I’ve changed so much that people would be like, ‘Is that Georgia?’”
Georgia, 25 – who starred on the show alongside Dani Dyer, Megan Barton Hanson, Wes Nelson and Dr Alex George – has been glued to this season, especially since Kady joined the cast.
The reality star says she understands why Kady wanted to give the show another shot. “Kady and I went into Love Island at the same age. She was about 20 and you don’t really know what guy is right for you. I think she’ll have a more narrow-minded idea of what she needs and hopefully she finds the right one.”
Theatre student Georgia went into the villa as a bombshell during her series, and coupled up with Josh Denzel before he broke her heart by coming back from Casa Amor with Kaz Crossley. There was then drama when she denied kissing fellow Islander Jack Fowler – who was partnered with her pal Laura Anderson – insisting she was “loyal”, despite the cameras showing otherwise.
She left the show dating Sam Bird, and the pair stayed together for three months before parting ways. Since then, Georgia has had further attempts at love on Celebs Go Dating and then Ex On The Beach, where she met, and was reportedly engaged to, her co-star Callum Izzard, before they split after seven months.
And five years on, Georgia says she hasn’t given up on love and is keen to meet The One. She says, “I want the next thing to be it. I’m completely and utterly single! I’m done having boyfriends now – I feel ready to settle down.”
Despite being unlucky in love, Georgia’s career has thrived – with her amassing 1.2m followers on Instagram, multiple clothing lines and collaborations, plus her own fitness platform.
But she admits that she did struggle with fame at first. And when asked what advice she’d give this year’s Islanders when they come out of the villa, Georgia says, “My mistake was jumping too quickly and just not processing everything I’d been through. I made choices that maybe weren’t the best for my future at the time. That would be my main advice – go home, collect your thoughts, get your feet back on the ground and give yourself a week with your family to process what you’ve been through, and then think about what you really want to do.”
