Sorry, how did we miss this whole Dami / Indiyah showdown?

In an exclusive chat with Closer for our Love Island Secrets YouTube series, lovebirds Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack revealed that they weren't exactly seeing eye to eye in the final days of Love Island 2022.

But... They're our golden couple. We know.

Dami and Indiyah were not on the same page in those final weeks

No pun intended. If you know, you know...

It's no secret that viewers don't get to see everything that happens on Love Island. The only ones who have that privilege are the Islanders themselves and the show's producers – who have been known to scrap entire 'story lines' on more than one occasion if they don't fit in with their overall series narrative.

These are some harsh realities, we know, but don't be fooled by the word 'reality' in reality TV. Bring back the days where we could all watch Big Brother housemates sleeping at 4am on E4, we say. Not in a creepy way.

Unfortunately, it's 2022 and we can pretty much blame why we never saw Dami and Indiyah at odds in those final day, purely on Love Island editors.

Okay, the couple weren't at odds in the way you're perhaps thinking, but one half of this duo did tell us that they wanted to leave the villa at the final hurdle, while the other was having the time of their life.

Not an ideal scenario for a finale couple on the UK's biggest dating show.

When asked whether there was a time either of them wanted to leave the Love Island villa, Dami admitted he had thought about it in the final two weeks of filming.

Dami told us, "Yep, I did. I won't lie, I did.

"I think the last two weeks, I was like, 'I'm ready to go', but this sweetheart here... (turning to Indiyah)."

Indiyah then revealed, "Yeah, there's something wrong with me. I was enjoying it (the Love Island experience). I didn't want to come home. I had such a great time without my phone and the whole like, outside world."

She added, "I felt very secluded from the real world, but I liked it. But I think that's just me as a person; I can just stay in my own company."

The pair were very keen to stress that they're both very happy to be together in the outside world and Indiyah doesn't have any plans on returning to the Love Island villa any time soon. Unless that All Stars series takes flight and Dami comes out as the chillest/most secure boyfriend on the planet.

We jest.

We can't blame Indiyah; we know everyone goes on about how the Love Island filming schedule is brutal, the challenges are cringe and the days can be boring, but at the end of the day (see what we did there?), it's still a free holibobs in Majorca, isn't it?

Indiyah lived her hot girl summer AND left with her man – that's how you do it.
