"We were all like on edge"

Amber Beckford Love Island

Love Island's Amber Beckford has truly been the gift that keeps on giving since she exited the villa two weeks ago.

Here's the real tea: most dumped Islanders come out of the villa and get a good talking to by ITV PRs (we're guessing, don't come for us) about keeping eternally shtum (for the duration of their fives minutes) and then do so in every boring exit interview henceforth. Snore.

But not our Amber; she's firmly on team journo (#queen) and more than happy to read an Islander or two in front of a microphone. Better still, she's happy to spill a downright cosmic Love Island production secret on camera – and look flawless doing it. Unrelated, we know, but just look at this queen...

Shortly after she flew back from Majorca, Closer invited Amber and the love of all our lives, Ikenna Ekwonna - who left the villa together (and we have some THOUGHTS on that one) - to our sexy studios in London for a round of Closer's Lover Island Secrets, to spill tea on their Love Island auditions, their fellow Islanders, producers, what Islanders eat, who snores, deleted scenes, toilet etiquette... you name it.

Basically everything you want to know and producers don't want you to know. We really are doing important work, aren't we?

During our chat with Amber and Ikenna, the 24-year-old London beauty revealed some scalding hot production tea by divulging that Love Island producers purposefully "try to head f-ck" Islanders on the show, especially when it comes to smartphones.

As many of you will know, Islander's phones are taken away right before they walk into the villa in inordinate slow motion. However, Islanders are all given new phones upon entry; phones used for taking snaps of each other, messaging one another and, of course, receive from producers.

Amber exclusively told Closer that producers use these phones to keep Islanders on "edge", saying, “I feel like they (producers) try to head f-ck us a little bit.

"Because some days they’d be like, ‘Has everyone got their phones?’ and we’d get like no texts.

"We were all like on edge. It gets to the point where you’re like, ‘Urgh, drama’s gonna come’.

To be honest, we don't even like answering the phone to people we know (oh so 2022, we know), let alone waiting around all day for that obnoxious Love Island chime to go off - or not.

We're thrilled to confirm that our Amber now has her phone back in her hands and she looked utterly cute and content while scrolling and sipping her Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte in between takes last week. Nature is healing for our queen and we love to see it.
