We have to give it to the Love Island bosses; it can’t be easy to make one of the most popular shows on TV. The Islanders spend 24/7 in the villa and all of their antics have to be edited down into an hour-long TV show, so it’s impossible to fit everything in.
As such, some Islanders have complained about being misrepresented on the show and viewers have even pointed out an editing error or two.
So, in the interest of fairness, when we get Islanders down to Closer HQ for a post-villa chinwag, we like to ask them if any of their castmates have been portrayed differently to how they are in real life. This week, it was the turn of All Stars winners Molly Smith and Tom Clare and they didn’t hold back.
“We haven’t watched it back,” Tom said, “To see what’s been shown,” Molly continued and aww, they’re finishing each other’s sentences now. Couple goals.
But when pushed for an answer, Molly admitted she actually thinks her new boyfriend has been misrepresented.
“You,” she said, pointing at Tom, “Why do people think that you’re a little bit boring?”
We have to admit that the show didn’t do a very good job at showcasing Tom’s personality. But hey, who needs a personality when you look like that.
“You’re actually in hysterics with Tom, he’s so funny. So, I don’t understand,” Molly added.
Tom offered some explanation though as he told us, “I think I just stay out of the drama, you know. I’m not here for drama.”
Molly continued, “You’re very laidback, actually and your sense of humour is dry as well.”
Wait, so Tom has a cracking sense of humour AND those chiselled good looks? Lucky Molly.
As well as spilling the beans on the most misrepresented Islander, Molly and Tom also revealed what they were banned from taking into the villa and it’s pretty savage.
Molly let slip that she was banned from taking in photos of her beloved dog, Nelly, which is rather mean if you ask us. She explained, “I wanted to take into the villa little Polaroids of my dog, just so I could have a picture of her, and I tried to, I tried to sneak it in, but no, they took them off me."
As for Tom, he said, “Yeah, a lot of clothes got taken away...nothing branded."
