It's wild to think that Jacqueline Jossa was only on EastEnders for seven years.

The soap star left Walford back in 2018 but fans were left ecstatic earlier this year when she returned to the Square alongside one of Peter Beale’s many faces Thomas Law.

It's been five years since Lauren left the Square for good but what has Jacqueline been up to since she left her role? We've got all the info...

She was part of the Branning clan and played the often troubled Lauren Branning, daughter of Max (Jake Wood) and Tanya.

What happened to Lauren Branning?

Well, where to begin?

Her character was quite vindictive and after discovering that her dad and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) were having an affair, she put it on a DVD ready to play it to the whole family. Thanks to Lauren, EastEnders fans got to witness one of the most iconic Christmas Day episodes - it was iconic, if you ask us.

She also gave her cousin Billie Jackson alcohol for his birthday and was left devastated when he died from alcohol poisoning, Lauren discovered that Stacey killed Archie Michell (Larry Lamb) and she found out that her friend Lucy Beale (Hettie Bywater) was killed at home rather than the woods.

During her time in Walford, Lauren dated her cousin Joey Branning, had an on/off relationship with Peter and was in a relationship with Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell).

However, one of her biggest storylines was battling with her alcohol addition and the strain it put on her relationships with her friends and family.

When their romance came to light it sure did divide the family - while Tanya and Max supported them, Joey’s dad, Derek (Jamie Foreman) was furious.

They separated a few times and he cheated on her while she was in rehab with Whitney Dean. However Joey and Lauren's relationship came to an end when he asked her to leave Walford but she decided to stay.

What happened with Lauren and Abi Branning?

EastEnders bosses love dramatic Christmas Day episode and in 2017, fans watched Lauren and Abi Branning fall off the roof of the Queen Vic after Max tried to take his own life.

While Lauren survived the fall, Abi gave birth prematurely and had her life support machine turned off after doctors said she was "brain stem dead".

After Abi's funeral, Lauren left the Square.

Is Jacqueline Jossa returning to EastEnders?

We’re not sure and her Instagram post from June doesn't give anything away. Sharing a photo alongside co-stars Thomas Law (aka Peter) and Adam Woodyatt (aka Ian Beale) she said, "Surprise😅😀. Photo bombed by the one and only @adamwoodyatt!!

"Glad to see you guys back where you belong🤍. @thomaslaw44 was my first Peter, I remember watching the show when I was younger and rooting for Lauren and Peter, before I even knew I would ever be her. ✨".

She hasn't been seen since but who knows maybe she'll make another cameo soon.

Why did they change Lauren Branning?

Well, that's a good question.

Madeline Duggan, who originally played the role, was asked about being replaced and she admitted on Twitter, "Unmmmmmmm I understand it more now lol I looked like a baby in that ep and I was tiny and didn’t grow (still only 5’2) so I get that they wanted someone older to play different storylines & I'm very glad it happened."
