Her autobiography is due to be released next week, and she has also just signed up to appear in a Hollywood movie – but insiders fear Denise Van Outen’s fresh start could be threatened by her ex-fiancé, Eddie Boxshall.
Last week, Denise, 47, hinted she could finally spill the beans on the end of their seven-year relationship, which was reportedly due to his infidelity – confirming she’d rewritten parts of the memoir, which is out on 17 March, for “obvious reasons”.
A source tells Closer, “Denise has had to rewrite the end of the book as part of her contract, but she’s been tight-lipped about how much she will give away about Eddie – she didn’t even want to give him any coverage, in all honesty. This is all about her life now and she thinks the best karma will be for her to be super-successful without him and not give him any airtime. But she also wants to put her truth out there as she believes there is a chance he will talk soon, anyway.”
And the source confirms that commodities trader Eddie, 49, is looking for the chance to have his say on what led to their shock split shortly before Christmas.

The source says, “Eddie wants to give his version of events and talk about what went wrong. Denise knows this and is, of course, a bit fearful and wary of him doing a chat – she knows it’s a possibility and she’s seen lots of friends in the industry have ex-partners who have done kiss-and-tells. Denise has nothing to hide, but obviously they aren’t nice. While she never wanted a public ‘he said, she said’, at least putting a few things down in her memoir will allow her to give her take on things.”
The couple were planning to tie the knot next year, but Denise asked Eddie to leave their Essex home at the end of 2021 after allegedly discovering he had swapped raunchy messages with women online and enjoyed trips to London to meet someone else.

While Eddie – who, following their split, wrote on an Instagram post “You don’t know the truth” was initially reportedly “pulling out all the stops” and staying in a room at a nearby pub in the hope he could save their relationship, Denise refused to take him back.
Prior to their relationship ending, she candidly revealed on their podcast, Before We Say I Do, how the pandemic had put a strain on their partnership. “I’m very aware of me putting us in situations where I’m not giving enough,” she admitted. “I’m not as affectionate as I should be and I feel like I’ve lost my way a little bit within the relationship.”
And just last month, Eddie shared a picture on his Instagram story, with the caption, “I’d rather be alone than be with someone who makes me feel lonely.”
Now newly-single Denise –who shares daughter Betsy, 11, with her ex-husband Lee Mead – is keen to take a step back from romance and further build on her career. Alongside her autobiography, she has signed up to star as a sexy nurse in Adam Deacon’s new movie Sumotherhood, which also features Ed Sheeran, Jennifer Saunders and Jaime Winstone.
“She’s looking forward to her future now without Eddie – she wants to reinvent herself and be back on TV, and be a huge-name presenter again,” adds our source.
“Denise isn’t interested in finding love again just yet, as she doesn’t want a rebound. She wants to utilise being single: doing her own thing, spreading her wings and building up her career again. Then she’ll have a bit of fun on the dating scene!”
