Coleen Rooney prepares to return to the UK with her boys after growing homesick in the US with Wayne
Sources recently revealed to Closer thatColeen Rooney has been determined to spend more time in the UK with friends and family, as she’s struggled to adapt to life in Washington since husband Wayne signed with MLS team DC United in June last year, on a reported £300k a week – telling her footballer husband he needs to work around her schedule.
And last week, it was claimed that Coleen, 33, has now ordered Wayne, also 33, to quit his US football career when his contract expires in 2021, telling pals that she plans to move back with their four sons, Kai, nine, Klay, six, Kit, three, and 17-month-old Cass, as early as September next year.
A source shares, “Coleen wanted to start spending more time in the UK, but opening up to friends and family made her feel strong enough to lay down the law to Wayne and tell him she wants to work towards moving back home for good. She and Wayne had a big heart to heart and she realised, while she’s not happy in Washington, she also doesn’t want to spend years living thousands of miles apart. She told him she’d given up a lot for him and now it was his turn to do the same for her.

“Wayne has enjoyed playing for the team, but Coleen stayed firm. She told him she wants to start moving the boys back as soon as possible, at the very latest by the end of next year, and he can follow the year after if that’s easier to do for his contract.”
Since Coleen – who was born and raised in Liverpool, and moved to Cheshire with Wayne when he played for Manchester United – arrived back in the UK last month, she’s appeared to be happier than she’s been in years.

The WAG hasn’t stopped smiling as she’s been pictured on a girls’ trip to Ibiza, dining at The Ivy in Manchester with her mother Colette, and taking son Klay for a day out at the Legoland Windsor Resort in Berkshire.
The source adds, “Coleen has such strong ties to her life back in Manchester that Washington DC has just been miserable for her. She’s spent months feeling lonely and isolated, particularly when the kids were at school and Wayne was training. She was left on her own wondering why she should put up with it all.”
Coleen has often been seen as the dutiful wife, standing alongside Wayne when their marriage has hit trouble – including his 2017 drink-drive shame with party girl Laura Simpson, and his alleged affair with ex-prostitute Helen Wood. But our source says Coleen has had a dramatic change of heart.
The source adds, “Coleen has made it clear to Wayne that the sooner he realises they need to all go home, the better. She’s now looking to him to prove how much he loves her, and to do what he can to finish playing in the US for good.
