PrettyLittleThing have finally launched their own Marketplace app for customers to buy and sell pre-wore items.

The news first came about just six months after Molly-Mae Hague became the creative director of PrettyLittleThing when she announced she was making huge changes in the company.

It's well known that PLT is a fast fashion brand and there's been a lot of talk about the brand becoming more sustainable and in August last year, the influencer hinted that it's an issue that she would tackle head on in her new role.

During a Q&A on Instagram she said, "Seeing everyone’s reactions to the announcement of my role actually enlightened to a lot of things I wanted to get started with straight away within PLT.

"I’ve read EVERYTHING. We have SO many amazing things coming. PrettyLittleThing is only getting bigger and better from here."

Well, when we caught up with Molly ahead of her PLT collection, she announced that the clothing company is bringing out a brand new app that will allow customers to sell their clothes to other people.

"It's a bit of a secret but I'll tell you a little bit about it, we've been working on something for well over a year now - PLT Marketplace," she revealed.

"It's basically going to be an app in which girls can resell their PLT pieces pre-loved and it's not going to be just PLT pieces, you can sell pretty much anything on there, which is obviously encouraging sustainability hugely.

"It's encouraging girls to think: 'Maybe this is actually really great condition, I don't need to chuck it away. Why not encourage someone else to buy it?'

"And that's been something that we've been working on for months now. It's a massive movement for us, and nothing's gonna really disrupt the fashion issue because people won't aren't going to expect that from us. So that's really exciting."

The Love Island 2019 star continued, "I think it's amazing because growing up, it was something that I always wanted to do. I had all these clothes and it's great to make a little bit money for our girls as well.

"So I'll be on there and I'll show the girls how to use it and sell my pieces because I've got hundreds of PLT pieces that you physically can't wear them all. So I think it's really great to encourage other people and I'll donate my proceeds to charity."

And it's not just PrettyLittleThing's brand new app but it's also the rest of the team who are aiming to become more sustainable.

"We're so lucky at PLT to obviously have incredible experts in each area of the brand and we have a huge sustainability team that are working day in and day out.

"One thing I will say is obviously our people that produce our garments and work on our pieces, they don't work day in and day out on these pieces for them to be throwaway fashion, we want people to love these garments and wear them constantly," she said.

And now PLT have confirmed that the app has launched and customers can start buying and selling pre-loved clothes on the PrettyLittleThing Marketplace app.

But it's safe to say that the clothing brand's customers are divided by the news with some praising the company.

One person wrote, "This is actually good the amount of clothes I have not worn and not taken back 😂".

Someone else tagged their friend and said, "Your prayers have been answered".

Another commented, "Brooo I love this!!! 👏👏👏".

However others were less keen with one person saying, "As someone who specialises in the remake and recycle of garments, this ain’t it".

A second person wrote, "To everyone who is saying great because I have so many clothes I haven’t even worn… why did you buy them?????".

One more added, "It’s all just greenwashing until you meaningfully reduce the amount of product you churn out everyyyy weeeekk 🤮".

The announcement comes after Molly described one of her collections as "timeless" before going on to say, "These are most definitely pieces that I want girls to have in their wardrobes for months, years on end.

"We also work really hard on our socials to sort of produce content that can show girls how they can re-wear these pieces, because that's something that not every girl knows how to do.

"So they might buy a pair of jeans and think: 'Oh, you know, this only goes with one top'. But we really want to educate girls on how those jeans can be worn with five different tops, 10 different tops, and be worn over and over again.

"So specifically this collection, we've worked really hard to create pieces that will be timeless, and girls can keep in their wardrobe. So it's not throwaway fashion."
