We're a nation of book-lovers, with over 200 million books sold in the UK last year, and nearly 70 per cent of women having said they immersed themselves in a good book to pass the time during lockdown.

Not only has reading been proven to reduce stress, improve brain function and help prepare you for a good night's sleep, but an organised #shelfie or perfectly prepared coffee-table can do wonders for home interiors.

Combine thick books on travel, arts and culture with scented candles and a vase of fresh flowers, and you've got yourself a Kardashian-Jenner worthy living room set-up.

And yes, it's totally fine if you just love coffee table books for their glossy pictures and immaculate covers...

After more reading material? Why not sign up to a book club...

There are plenty of groups online, so you can find one which suits you. From celebrity-run book clubs, like Reece Witherspoon's community, to Oprah Winfrey's infamous club, to mysterious monthly subscriptions, such as Rare Birds Book Club, which provides members with a surprise book every month, as well as access to an online forum, there's a group for everyone.

Rare Birds founder, Rachel Wood, suggests reading is an easy form of escapism. She says, “Reading is the perfect option when you need a little ‘me’ time – it lowers stress and anxiety and can whisk us away to another country, another time, another world, without us needing to leave the comfort of our own homes."
