Everyone loves candles - it's a proven fact. But not everyone has the dosh for expensive candles like Yankee Candle that cost an arm and a leg. That's why we're glad that Glade exists. Created in the US of A in 1956, Glade is known for creating gorgeous, affordable scents for the world to enjoy, whether that be candles, reed diffusers or air fresheners. But of course, with so many Glade products on the market, comes the overwhelming feeling that there are too many to choose from. Don't panic- we've got a list of the best Glade candles to buy online, all for under £5. We made sure to check multiple shops to make sure you are getting the lowest prices possible. You're so welcome. But first, let's tackle a couple of FAQs.

Are Glade candles vegan?

Glade does sell a few specifically vegan products but its never been confirmed whether its products as a whole are not entirely cruelty-free. This means that the company may test some of its products on animals, or pay a third-party commission to do so.

However, Glade candles are made without phthalates, parabens, or formaldehyde. They're made with a percentage of plant-based wax, and a percentage of palm wax that is RSPO certified. Its wicks are also lead-free.

Are Glade candles safe for cats and dogs?

As a general rule, candles are better for your pet's airways than something stronger like pure essential oils or perfume. However, if you own animals and want to light a candle, make sure it's in a ventilated room, and that your candle lighting habits aren't excessive. Oh, and cats really don't like citrus scents. They just have to be difficult 🙄.

Review: "I literally yelp when I see it in stock; It has such a unique smell- when I first bought it I was scared it was going to smell too warm and gooey (like an intoxicating sweetness) but the sandalwood does wonders to the mix. Cons: Because it's not artificial smelling, some reviews state it lacks a punch, so be prepared for a more subtle, delicate vanilla aroma. Review: "Scent is subtle and smells before during and after being lit, smells builds the longer it's lit but is not overpowering (I easily get headaches with candle scents but I havent experienced this with this candle). Burns well and not quickly. Simple, elegant design. I'd definitely buy again and try in different scents if reasonably priced."You can also get a 129g version from Waitrose for £2.50, if you want to try out a smaller size first.

Glade Scented Candle 129 g Relaxing Zen

Notes: Crisp green apple, dewy florals (lotus flowers, muguet and lily pads) and tranquil sandalwood. With the two years we've experienced, we all need to take a chill pill. If you're looking to get into more self-care or yoga, the Relaxing Zen candle from Glade could help. One reviewer talked about lighting it up during a meditation session and it creating a beautiful, tranquil space. Pros: Not only is it a gorgeous mix of scents, but the bright pink colour of the candle makes it a cute little decor item on your shelf.Cons: You'll need a Prime membership if you want to order this from Morrisons on Amazon. Review: "This is a very nice candle product. Bought Glade products in the past, especially the battery operated spray dispensers. Not bought one of these candles before so was happy to try it. The Relaxing Zen scent that is infused with essential oils is a very fresh and welcoming smell. The candle itself gives off a strong scent before even lighting it. I do like this smell so you'll be able to smell it before buying. The glass jar is rather decorative with its spotted dimples around the top half and has a good weight to it. It would be very difficult to knock over so very safe. The jar comes in a cardboard sleeve so no excess plastic waste. The jar can be used for other things afterwards or recycled in your glass bin. Lighting it is easy and there has been no tunnelling. The candle burns evenly which is a must for me. Great to light and leave on the fireplace whilst watching a movie and having a relaxing drink over the weekend. I will definitely be picking a couple up from the supermarket."

The aroma of blackberry makes us think of BBQ parties and sunshine. Pros: Not only is blackberry a rich scent, but the packaging is extra-adorable, with swirls and snowflake patterns (if you want a decor item in those winter months).Cons: Berry smells can be very sweet, so it's best to avoid if you're not a fan of that spectrum of fragrances. There are also very few reviews online, so it's hard to get a wide pool of opinions. Review: "Fresh scent, lingers after candle is blown out."

Glade Aromatherapy Candle with Italian Bergamot & Guatemalan Lemongrass, 260g

Notes: Italian bergamot and Guatemalan lemongrass.Glade also has an aromatherapy candle collection, focusing on creating soothing scents in the most natural way possible. Its stress relief candles use essential oils that are traced to their countries of origin, and contain no parabens, phthalates, nitro musks, artificial colours or dyes. Pros: As well as being free of these ingredients, the glass jar and metal lid are recyclable. Plus, a lid means no dust on your candle ud83dude4c. Cons: Some reviews state that the wicks burn down quite fast, meaning some wax is left around the side instead of burning equally. Review: "I only purchased on Monday and I've already ordered more because I'm in love and this is the cheapest I've found themud83dude02 I have the Moment of Zen and the Calm Mind ones. The scent is just right for me, it's not overpowering like some candles, which give me a headache. I use the Calm Mind during the day and the Moment of Zen in the evening and they are both so relaxing and make the room smell lovely."

How to take care of your candle

Glade recommends that you look after your candle as follows: "Place candles in an upright position. Trim wick to about 1 cm before lighting. Always snuff out the flame, do not blow out. Keep the wax pool clear of matches and other debris to avoid flaring. Never burn your candle for more than four hours, and stop use when 1/4 inch of wax remains."

Glade candles vary on burn time from product to product, but generally, they have a burn time of 18 to 24 hours for the smaller candles, going up in duration from there.

Where to get discontinued Glade candles?

Sometimes, Glade makes the heart-wrenching decision to discontinue a candle in the UK, and so whilst the Americans over the pond get to enjoy them, we Brits must suffer alone. However, there is some sleuthing you can do to find your favourite scent, but it often costs a little more.

If you're willing to make that sacrifice, then we're right behind you. Stock up sister.

For example, the luxurious Hawaiian Breeze scent is currently not being sold in the UK, but Desertcart is selling the candle on OnBuy and shipping it around the globe.

Glade Candle Jar, Air Freshener, Hawaiian Breeze, 3.4 OzOnBuy

Notes: Pineapple, juicy peach nectar, mango, red berries and hibiscus

We don't know about you, but we'd rather be relaxing on a Hawaiian beach right now than have to face another rainy day. Enter: Hawaiian Breeze. Close your eyes, and smell the sea air, and the imaginary Piña Colada in your hand.

Pros: This candle is very strong; one review stated: “I own a bait shop and when I light this fragrance, I was told you couldn't smell fish in my shop!”

Cons: This could be a con if you are looking for a more subtle fragrance. Also, some reviews state they can smell coconut even though it's not written as an official note, so be wary if you're not a fan of coconut.

Review: "This is the ONLY scent I buy! I have been loyally stuck to this one for almost 2 years now. I love the tropical smell, it's like having a little piece of Hawaii in my home. As a full-time student, the aroma wafting in the air is very relaxing. I just close my eyes and imagine myself on a nice tropical beach listening to the sounds of waves crashing and seagulls calling, and I am instantly transformed. It really helps me to get into study mode when I am otherwise having a difficult time concentrating."

Therefore, the candle you want is never too far from reach. Thank the perfumed gods above.
