Just five days before Brittany Maynard plans to take her own life, the newlywed has travelled to Arizona to take in the famous American sight.

Brittany was diagnosed with a brain tumour earlier this year, but announced in September that she wants to take her own life on November 1 rather than die a painful death.

The American thanked her supporters who had helped raise money for her to tick off things from her bucket list before her untimely death.

‘The Canyon was breathtakingly beautiful, and I was able to enjoy my time with the two things I love most: my family and nature,’ she wrote on her website.

Pictures from the trip included Brittany kissing her husband Dan, and sharing a cuddle with her mother, Deborah.

Sadly, the day after the trip Brittany experienced her ‘worst seizure thus far’ and was left temporarily paralysed and tired for the remainder of the day.

‘The seizure was a harsh reminder that my symptoms continue to worsen as the tumor runs its course,’ she wrote.

Maynard has campaigned relentlessly for Americans’ right-to-die, a law that she is taking advantage of in Orgeon.

‘My dream is that every terminally ill American has access to the choice to die on their own terms with dignity,’ wrote Brittany.

The 29-year-old was given the devastating news that she had Glioblastoma multiforme in the Spring of 2014. Doctors told the newlywed she would die slowly over 14 months - something which would be painful and involve many seizures and temporary periods of paralysis.

With this in mind, Brittany decided she will end her life the day after her husband’s birthday, surrounded by him, her best friend and her parents.

At present, only five states in America allow people to die on their own terms, something which Brittany says is unethical. For the past six months, she has campaigned to get the Death with Dignity Act passed in other states - such as her home California.
