Over the next two years, we will be very pampered by Disney. It seems that almost all of our childhood favourites will be brought to life with live-action remakes that are jam-packed with some of the biggest name in Hollywood.

We’ve already been spellbound by Emma Watson and co in Beauty and the Beast, and we’ll soon be seeing lots of famous directors recreating everything from Mary Poppins to Mulan.

If you’re a fan of the remakes, then you’ll be over the moon to hear that one of the ultimate Disney classics, Aladdin, is also getting the live-action treatment.

The movie will be directed by none other than Guy Ritchie, and there has been a lot of talk about who would take on the animated role of Genie, made famous in the original by the late Robin Williams.

But according to reports, it looks like Will Smith could be lined up to fill the boots of the comedy legend.

The film is rumoured to be a live-action musical in the same vein as the hugely successful Beauty and the Beast which has already grossed over $1 billion worldwide.

Considering that when the original Aladdin was released in 1992 it pulled in a staggering $504 million, we’re certain that the update will be a massive success – who can resist the beautiful love story of street rat Aladdin and Princess Jasmine?

Will was originally pipped to take a role in Tim Burton’s upcoming Dumbo, but his involvement in the film has yet to be confirmed. Who knows – he could end up featuring in two Disney classics!

Filming for Aladdin is set to start this summer and hopes to be finished by early next year. We’re already VERY excited!
