The last few weeks have been very exciting for Disney fans across the globe. We were teased with footage from the live action version of Beauty and the Beast, starring the one and only Emma Watson – who we think will play the book-loving beauty perfectly!

We also told you that the Walt Disney Studio was teaming up with Jon Favreau (who directed The Jungle Book) in order to create a “new imagining” of the childhood classic, The Lion King. The internet exploded with excitement as the movie, which has already become a hugely successful stage musical, will include the catchy tunes that we all grew up with – so we’re definitely holding out for a reappearance of Hakuna Matata …

But now, we have even more brilliant Disney-related news – Mulan is set to join the two classics in becoming a live action movie.

The musical animation, which sees a young Chinese girl disguising herself as a man to go into battle and embarking on an epic journey of self-discovery, is set to be released in November 2018.

Bosses have promised a “more nuanced and elaborate” version of the tale, but we’re hoping that still includes some of the many brilliant characters such as her companion, Mushu the dragon.

Fans have already taken to social media to their thoughts on the remake, with some even suggesting actresses for the lead:

“Hey @Disney please cast @MingNa in the live action Mulan!! Wouldn’t be the same without her,”

“Why having new ideas when you can remake every animated Disney movie ever made? But at least Mulan makes sense, so this one I wanna see,”

“@MingNa could totally play Mulan in the live action movie. Still hot & badass. No CGI, needed Eddie Murphy could dress in dragon suit,”

The original Disney film was released in 1998 and grossed $304.3 million.

Even though we still have a couple of years to wait, we’re in no doubt that this will be one of Disney’s most epic remakes ever!
