No matter how old, or how young, everyone loves Disney. Whether it’s the beautiful sisterly bond between Anna and Elsa in Frozen, or the beautiful music in The Lion King, throughout our lives the Disney classics will always be our go-to film comforts!
But what makes a Disney Princess? Is it the glamorous, sparkly ball dresses? Is it their perfectly tousled hair? Or even the fact that they get to marry handsome Prince's?
Well according to you, in today’s society – it is none of the above!
Disney has revealed exactly what it takes for little girls everywhere to become a modern day Princess – and it doesn’t include needing a Prince to come and rescue them …
They teamed up with thousands of parents across the UK to work out what traits our daughters exhibit that make them Princesses in a bid to encourage young girls to believe in themselves and follow their dreams.
Whether you believe a Princess should be compassionate like Belle, as generous as Snow White or as heroic as Merida, this is the ultimate list of Princess qualities.
Do the traits you most value in your daughter make the top of the list? Here’s what those involved said …
5. Be a friend you can trust
4. Be honest
3. Don’t judge a book by its cover
**2. Live healthily **
**1. Care for others **
It seems that most parents wish for their little ones to live compassionately, healthily and non-judgmentally, which we can also agree are definitely qualities that we want our children to display!
And, if the Disney Princesses we grew up watching in films and on the TV were real, who would they be?
They’ve answered that for us too – take a look at which celebrities were voted into the list, and who makes the number one spot …
10. Malala Yousafzai, activist and Nobel Prize winner – 2%
9. The Queen – 2%
8. Emma Watson, actor and campaigner – 2%
7. Angelina Jolie, actor and humanitarian – 3%
6. Holly Willoughby, TV presenter and charity campaigner – 4%
5. Laura Trott, cyclist and Olympic gold medalist – 4%

We love that there are fantastic female role models out there for little girls to aspire to!
“The results make clear that being a ‘Princess’ is not just about titles, tiaras or marrying a Prince,” says parenting expert, Judy Reith.
“Girls need strong role models when growing up so it is good to see they are looking up to an inspirational list of caring, courageous and determined female figures.”
Disney are releasing 5,000 FREE printed Princess Principles posters across their UK stores, but if you can’t get your hands on one, don’t worry – they’re also available as a downloadable print online at www.disneyinspired.co.uk
