Love Island 2023 crowned it's winners last week in the form of the nation's sweethearts Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan. And it's a good job they found each other because the winning prize ain't all that.
Okay, that's a little dramatic as they do still get the money, and £50k would be an absolute delight to receive, but past contestants have talked about the EPIC goody bag they also, well, bag.
However, chatting to Closer, Sanam and Kai were downright confused when we asked them what was included in their winners' package.
“We didn’t get a winner’s goody bag,” Kai admitted, and Sanam quizzed, “What’s a winner's goody bag?”
Sorry, what? Perhaps it’s been lost in the post...
But Kai didn’t seem all that upset as he went on, “We got twenty-five grand.”
“Each,” Sanam pointed out.
Which is a valid point, they could probably afford a few polaroid cameras (see below) and a whole truck load of snacks with that dollar.
Plus, Kai and Sanam have won the ultimate prize anyway what with finding an ACTUAL budding romance on the show.
It was Love Island 2019 winner Amber Gill who revealed the contents of the notorious goody bag back when she won with Greg O'Shea.
Speaking exclusively to Closer, Amber filled us in on what she received.
Chatting alongside bestie Anna Vakili, when asked whether the contestants get to keep the photos they take inside the villa, Amber said that not only did she get the pics, she got the whole ruddy phone.
"I actually got a lot of the photos that we took because I got my Samsung phone after I finished. I got loads of gifts as a winner pack,” she revealed.
And she didn't leave us hanging but went on to describe what else was in the pack
"I got a cute little polaroid camera. I got loads of nice things, cakes, flowers," she said.
It's well known that the dating show winners will get to split the £50,000 prize, although we will never give up hope that one series someone will keep it all to themselves. Though they'd have to bring that rule back first. Hear us, ITV bosses. HEAR US.
Ahem.
Anna, not bitter at all, piped in, "It’s alright for some, innit?"
Don't feel too sad for the early ejectees though. Every last one of the 2023 cast posted about the treats that awaited them in their (presumably also free) hotel stay ahead of the final show.
Olivia Hawkins shared a snap on her Instagram featuring a cute note, some sweets and a bottle of bubbly. Is that a whole bottle of champagne to herself? Makes a change from the amount of booze they're given in the villa, for sure.
