Over the last few weeks, we have been receiving weekly updates about what the masterminds over at Walt Disney Studios are up to – and every time we find out what’s going on, we let out another squeal of excitement!

First, we were teased with the trailer for Beauty and the Beast, with English rose, Emma Watson, bagging the lead role.

Shortly afterwards, we found out about the Lion King “reimagining” and the studio’s plans to create a live-action version of everyone’s favourite warrior, Mulan.

And now, yet another classic is set to be given a live-action makeover with none other than Guy Ritchie tipped to take the directorial reigns.

We are SO excited that one of the original Disney classics is being remade and the news has made our morning!

That’s right – Aladdin is the next to get the star-studded treatment!

The tale of a young, poverty stricken man who stumbles upon a genie in a magic lamp was first told by Disney in 1992, and the animation reaped over $500 million at the box office.

Wow!

Who could ever forget the magic that Robin Williams brought to the role of Genie, reportedly improvising the majority of his character’s lines? And we’ll never forget that one of the most amazing musical scores in Disney history came from Aladdin (A Whole New World became a huge standalone hit), even winning an Oscar.

Guy Ritchie, best known for his directorial input into films such as Sherlock Holmes, Snatch, and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, is a bold choice for the Disney classic, but it promises to stay true to the original and even incorporate some of its brilliant and catchy songs.
