There’s never a dull moment in Essex, is there? Forget what's going on in series 34 right now (actually don't – 'cause it's juicy AF), in a world of Instagram and TikTok, TOWIE drama is now 24/7 and once any drama's out there, it's out there forever.
Good news for us drama bloodhounds, bad news if you're a TOWIE star who just wants to leave the past in the past.
Take current show icon Saffron Lempirere and former TOWIE icon Gemma Collins aka The GC; these former besties fell out four years ago and since then, fans are still desperate for one of them to spill any remaining tea drops still in the teapot that is (well, was) their friendship.
We actually know this for a fact, as in a recent Instagram Q&A, a fan asked Saffron if she was still friends with the GC, to which Saffron replied that she'd "had about 20 of these" questions, so decided to clear things up once and for all.
Sharing an old TOWIE clip of her and her former friend together, Saffron wrote, "Funny enough I was sent this the other day. I was never friends with the GC, I was best friends with Gemma. We was like sisters and we made memories that last a life time. Life happens, things change and people drift but that's it."
No, but 'I was never friends with the GC, I was best friends with Gemma' is iconic – in fact, it's almost Shakespearean. We've got chills. But...
'People drift' is all well and good, but seven months ago, that didn't seem to be the case in the press...
The last time this TOWIE dramz reared its head was actually at the start of 2024, when reports stared circulating about an alleged run-in between Saffron and her former friend, Gemma, at an Essex pub.
It was claimed that Saffron and Gemma came face-to-face at a local boozer with friends having to intervene after Gemma didn’t entertain Saffron’s attempts to clear the air.
An onlooker revealed, “Saffron clocked Gemma and decided to approach her table to sort things out. Gemma wasn’t interested in hashing out their differences in a crowded pub though, so Saffron’s words fell on deaf ears.”
They told The Sun, “When Saffron could tell Gemma wasn’t going to engage, she got frustrated and bit loud - it caused a bit of a stir and people on nearby tables were looking over. In the end, one of Saffron’s pals stepped in to calm her down and diffuse the situation.
“It’s safe to say, however, that Saffron and Gemma won’t be making up anytime soon. The friendship is irreparable.”
However, Saffron quickly took to Instagram after the alleged event to claim the story was untrue. She said, “I’ve not been to the venue mentioned since October and the narrative of the story is complete lies to what actually happened. The friendship ended four years ago and that’s where it will remain.
“What I will add though is I’m fully aware that a cast member is selling stories on me and other people to the same journalist.”
Making a dig at the unnamed co-star, Saffron added, “Maybe change the game plan or if you are that strapped for cash I can offer you some work.”
Oooft.
