There are some names that instantly spring to mind when we think about TOWIE. We’re talking about the likes of Mark Wright, Amy Childs, Joey Essex, Gemma Collins and, of course, James ‘Arg’ Argent.
Arg rose to fame on the very first series of the show – which aired over 13 (THIRTEEN) years ago – as Mark’s cheeky chappy best friend and went on to feature in some of TOWIE’s most memorable storylines, including his on/off romances with Gemma and his teenage sweetheart Lydia Bright.
We’ve been keeping our fingers crossed that Arg could one day return to TOWIE following his 2018 departure, so imagine how excited we were when we spotted a major hint that he could be making a big comeback on social media.
The current cast of TOWIE are currently busy filming the next series and regularly document what goes on behind-the-scenes on their Instagram accounts. It was no exception earlier today (Wednesday 7 August) as Junaid Ahmed and Freddie Bentley posted themselves filming scenes with the likes of Ella Rae Wise and Dan Edgar.
But who else just happened to be present? None other than Arg, which must mean he's returning to the show that made him famous. Right? RIGHT?
Junaid shared a picture of Arg using a steam inhaler (y'know, because he's Essex's most in demand wedding singer) and wrote, "He makes me die 🤣 @real_arg."
Freddie posted a similar picture of Arg steaming his vocal chords ahead of a gig at Essex hotspot Sheesh on Friday night, as well as some snaps of camera crew and TOWIE producers - only fuelling our theory that Arg could be returning to the show for series 34.
Nothing has been confirmed, however, and Dan Edgar moved in with Arg last year following his split from Amber Turner so perhaps the TOWIE OG just happened to be at home while Dan and co were filming.
We have to admit Arg didn't seem keen on a TOWIE return when asked about it at the start of the year.
He said, “If I’m being honest, I would never go back. I gave my whole life to it, from my family relationships to my friendships, to girlfriends, to breaking up, to banter with the boys, to my singing and performances. You saw me grow up on there.
“I feel like I’ve done absolutely everything that there was to do on TOWIE. I’ve ticked every single box and I’ve got very fond memories. I’m fortunate that I’m no longer ‘Arg from TOWIE’ and I’ve been able to become James Argent in my own right – I’m a wedding singer now.”
He added, “But, who knows? Maybe if TOWIE ever comes to an end, I’ll come back for a cameo and perform with my band on the last episode.
“A cameo will do. But I’m finally doing what I’ve always wanted to do.”
