She and comedy star Miranda Hart have been thick as thieves since they starred as best friends on the BBC sitcom Miranda. And speaking to Closer at the Pride of Britain Awards, Strictly’s Sarah Hadland revealed that she attended Miranda’s surprise July wedding to Richard Fairs, which was a private and intimate ceremony.
Sarah told us, ‘I’m absolutely over the moon for her. When you have a dear friend and they find the love of their life… I’m just so happy.’
The actor, 53, joined by her Strictly 2024 partner and reigning champ Vito Coppola, discussed how Strictly has compared to her high expectations as a super-fan.
She said, ‘People say how exhilarating [Strictly] is and it’s the best thing they’ve ever done – it is. It’s just amazing. Terrifying, exhilarating, exciting… But on a Saturday night, you can’t even put it into words. It makes you feel really alive, because you’re live on television doing something that you didn’t know six days earlier.’
And referring to Miranda posting on her socials with comedy choreography inspiration for Sarah and Vito, the Italian professional laughed, ‘I take the credit, but actually it’s Miranda choreographing and giving advice.’
Sarah added that her best friend is their ‘unofficial coach’, adding, ‘Miranda and I usually watch [Strictly] together, but she’s enjoying it even more because I’m in it.
'It’s really special. I’ve got lots of friends who are massive fans. It’s quite surreal, really, as normally it’s me going, “I love that costume. I love that wig”. Now it’s me [wearing them]!’
