Hell hath no fury like a fanship scorned. This is something Emmerdale bosses found out earlier this week when some early teasers about the show appeared in some listings mags on Tuesday. Robron fans were horrified to read that one half of their favourite ship wouldn't be able to stick to the vows he made just TWO WEEKS ago. It was revealed that Robert Sugden was to make a pass at his old flame Rebecca White, while Aaron Dingle is banged up.
Well, as you can imagine, there was something of a Twitter storm over this. People were threatning to turn off Emmerdale FOREVER if the couple were split up. As viewers know, Robert is struggling to cope on the outside world while Aaron is serving at 12-month prison sentence for assault.
Last night Emmerdale took the unusual step of speaking out on social media to reassure fans that the Robron story was far from over.
They tweeted: "RE: #Robron storyline - the course of true love never did run smooth. Stick with us, there's more to come."
One fan asked why they just wouldn't let the much loved couple be happy. To which the 'Mayoress of Emmerdale' tweeted: "Who said we won't? There's still more to come, keep watching."
They added: "Don't believe everything you read... context is everything."
Ah, we do love the Mayoress of Emmerdale's tweets.
