And it seems as if they may, at last, get their wish.

The soap is reportedly set for an explosive twist in the rape storyline when Linda Carter opens up about her terrifying ordeal to Dean's girlfriend, Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner).

Sources told The Daily Star that Linda, realising Stacey is growing closer to Dean, feels that she has to do what she can to prevent the young mum-of-one becoming a victim like herself.

They explained: "Linda can see that Stacey's falling for Dean and she can't just sit back and watch it happen, given everything she knows.

"She would hate it if Stacey were to be attacked when she could have done something to prevent it.

"It's a big moment for Linda to open up about what happened to her, but it's going to open up a massive can of worms."

EastEnders bosses have yet to confirm these rumours, so it remains to be seen as to whether or not they are true.

But, if Linda does choose to tell Stacey about her traumatic ordeal, we truly hope that Bradley Branning's widow believes her and convinces her to confess the truth to husband Mick (Danny Dyer).
