Another day and another Danny Dyer story is doing the rounds on the rumour mill. This time The Sun has claimed that Danny has been on the verge of fisticuffs with Steve McFadden AKA Phil Mitchell. But EastEnders bosses have stepped up to deny the claims and have reiterated that Danny is a much-loved cast member. A spokesperson for the show said: "As previously stated, Danny is an extremely popular member of cast and respected by everyone on the show."
It's also emerged that Danny's sabbatical from the soap, in which he plays pub landlord Mick Carter, is to be much shorter than anticipated - meaning we'll hardly even notice Mick's not on our screens.
A show insider has said it will be 'a matter of weeks, not months' until Danny's back on set, crushing rumours that have been flying around that Danny's off until at least summer. Or that he's quit for good.
This is ace news as things are hotting up for Mick Carter in the coming weeks - as his financial woes get even worse and he gets even closer to daughter-in-law Whitney.
We're hoping the writers decide to send Mick off to Watford to spend some time with Linda - who's currently there nursing her sick mother - and save one of soap's best-loved marriages.
