Two soap icons look set to return to the shows that made their names - Alison King and Gary Lucy are heading back to Coronation Street and Hollyoaks
There's nothing like a double-whammy of exciting soap star comeback news to kick the week off. We were delighted to hear that two huge soap stars are heading back to the soaps we know and love them for. First up, Gary Lucy is heading back to Hollyoaks to reprise his role as Luke Morgan. And secondly, Alison King looks set to return to Corrie as the awesome Carla Connor. 'Citing, yeah?
It's been 15 years since Gary was last in the Chester village, and lots has changed since then. A Hollyoaks spokesperson confirmed the news after Gary was spotted on set.
A source told Daily Star Sunday: "Producers have some massive storylines planned for Gary. He will be at the centre of the action. They know how talented he is and also how popular he is with viewers.
"Because he’ll be back for at least 18 months it will be possible for him to have some really meaty storylines."
The source added: "It’s taken a while to get this sorted. But now it’s all signed everyone is thrilled to have him in the show."
Luke was involved in some controversial stuff back in the day, including a harrowing male rape storyline.
We're also bowled over by the not-yet-confirmed-news that Alison King will be bringing the mighty Carla Connor back to Corrie.
Carla left the cobbles a year ago after cheating on her fiance Nick with Robert.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: "Carla is a hugely popular character with viewers, and Kate (Oates) always felt it was a shame Ali left.
"So when the opportunity to talk to her came up, she was delighted. For a few months now they have been in secret talks and the word among the cast is that Ali has agreed."
If the rumours are true, there could be some explosive storylines with Peter Barlow, Leanne Battersby and Tracy Barlow who have all clashed with Carla.
We really hope this rumour is true. Fingers crossed!
