So we've got a hot new Coronation Street theory and we think we know who pushed Ken Barlow down those stairs...

The mystery of who pushed Ken Barlow down the stairs of No.1, leaving him for dead has had everyone talking and coming up witht theories about who did it and why. Fan favourite for a long time was Amy Barlow, and while she hasn't officially been ruled out, it's looking very unlikely that she did it after all. Anyway, we've had our detective hats on and we think we've worked out whodunnit. Simon Barlow. Here's why...

1. He's got form

Simon has been known to be very violent. Very violent indeed. Remember not too long ago when he broke another kid's leg playing football? It resulted in Leanne tearfully shopping him to the police. Leanne told them that Si had been 'bragging' about what he did to the other lad, who might never play football again as a result of what Simon did. What a brat!

2. He's got no problem hurting family

It's not just his school mates that Simon has had a go at over the years though. Remember when he used to beat up stepmum Leanne on the reg? He's also given his cousin, Amy Barlow, a wallop.

3. Where was he that night?

Ok, so we know that Peter Barlow was desperate to get Si's phone back from his teacher to delete a message he left around the time Ken was attacked which made Peter sound guilty as hell. But what was Simon doing that meant he couldn't answer his phone? HMMM?

4. He has a potential motive

Ken was bad-mouthing Peter to Toyah, before he was pushed. He told her that Peter was having an affair with stalker Chloe and that he'd hit the bottle again. None of this was true. Could Simon have been arguing his dad's corner with Ken?

5. Actor Alex Bain turns 16 this year

We might be looking into things a little too deeply here, but it hasn't escaped our attention that the actor who plays Simon will be 16 later this year. And we all know what happens when you're 16. GCSEs. Maybe Alex needs to take some time out of playing Simon to concentrate on his exams. And being sent away for attempted murder is a pretty solid way of writing him out for a bit.

6. The bookies kinda agree

Simon has gone from being a 100/1 outsider to 28/1 over the last week. So clearly we're not the only ones thinking he has KEN BARLOW'S BLOOD ON HIS HANDS.

7. EastEnders did it

Bobby Beale

We all know how much soaps like to, erm, borrow from each other and there was no doubt that Bobby Beale turning out to be Lucy's killer was a great moment in EastEnders history. It's not beyond impossible that Corrie have decided to follow in their footsteps and make a child the culprit.
