They say opposites attract and that’s definitely true for Love Island stars Mehdi Edno and Whitney Adebayo. Although they might not have much in common, they forged a firm bond in the villa and, to borrow Whitney’s favourite phrase, it was giving winners. Until Mehdi was dumped from that villa.
Despite the fact that Whitney recoupled with hunky Lochan Nowacki in Casa Amor, Mehdi has promised to wait for Whitney until she returns to the outside world and has revealed plans to take her on a date.
Mehdi has backed Whitney to win the show and it sounds like she’s guaranteed a romantic night out despite whatever happens between now and the final.
Speaking on the latest episode of Closer’s Secrets alongside fellow dumpee Mal Nicol, Mehdi told us, “I said I was going to wait for Whitney because we owe each other a date on the outside. Dating on the outside and dating in the villa is so different.”
As for her new potential romance with Lochan, Mehdi added, “I don’t compare connections. If you have a better connection it’s because you tick other boxes, so will they have a better connection? No, because they’re different.”
Very diplomatic answer. We love it.
Mehdi and Whitney were voted as one of the least compatible couples during their time in the villa, but two people who know first hand whether or not they're compatible are former Islanders André Furtado and Charlotte Sumner.
Closer recently sat down with the duo to quiz them about the couples and we couldn't help but ask if they thought Mehdi and Whitney are compatible.
Charlotte didn't hesitate when she replied, "Definitely," and André nodded in agreement.
"When you are around them as well vibes don't lie," Charlotte added, "And I feel like they're together a lot and they're laughing."
André was all murmurs of yes and nods as Charlotte continued to chat about the iconic duo.
Mehney? Whedi? Whitdy? We're not sure yet, it's a work in progress.
"I love those two together," she declared.
André added his own thoughts on the couple by saying, "I double down on that and say the compatibility between those two is amazing."
"Being in there and seeing they vibes and the way they are with each other," he confirmed. "Especially considering Whitney is such big personality in the villa and with Mehdi being able to get her shy, that says something."
