Kady McDermott reveals her items that were CONFISCATED in the villa

You'd have thought Kady would know the rules after TWO Love Island appearances

Love Island is basically the summer holiday of a lifetime. Who wouldn’t want to live in a luxury villa for eight weeks while cracking on and coupling up with a selection of hot singletons? Well, us, we're extroverted introverts, but still...

There are, however, a few downsides to villa life, including a list of items that the Islanders are BANNED from taking to Mallorca with them. The list includes their mobile phone, chewing gum, books and err, halloumi cheese (as Antigoni Buxton randomly revealed last summer).

Something else that producers have banned is branded clothing – meaning the Islanders aren’t allowed to pack any clothing with a visible logo or brand name, let alone wear it on camera. That doesn’t mean they don’t try, though. Just ask Kady McDermott… (who has, frankly, been the gift that keeps on giving this week).

When we caught up with Kady (and Ouzy See) for another instalment of Closer’s Love Island Secrets earlier this week, she well and truly spilled the beans when we asked if they’d wanted to take anything they weren’t allowed into the villa.

“I couldn’t wear any branded clothing, that was annoying,” Kady said, before explaining how she was caught out when producers overheard a conversation between her and Mitchel Taylor.

“I basically had an an Off-White top, I had two, and Mitch saw it and Mitch was like, ‘How did you get your Off-White top in? You got special treatment, you’.

They [producers] hear everything, you can not even whisper in that place. Within ten minutes I got, ‘Kady, can you come to the Beach Hut? We need to confiscate your Off-White top’. I was like, ‘Great!’”

Kady isn’t the only Islander that’s fallen foul of the no branded clothing rule, as Love Island 2022 star Charlie Radnedge opened up about not being allowed to wear designer items last year.

He told us, "They confiscated a load of clothes off me. You're not allowed to wear anything that's branded."

Luckily for the Islanders, they get plenty of clothes provided by the show’s sponsor eBay. Revealing how it all worked last year, Charlie’s co-star Antigoni explained, “I loved it because it meant you weren't limited to one brand or one style, it was really open. I thought it was a great move to be using sustainable clothing. I was so happy when I found out they were the sponsor.

"The clothing we wore was donated to charity and rehomed after we wore them [the public can bid on the clothes]."
