We're 'live for the moment' kings and queens here at Closer HQ, which means that now we're a week in, we're fully invested in Love Island 2024 and, thus, previous series and previous Islanders don't matter for another seven weeks – nor do friends, family, holidays, responsibilities etc.
Unless, of course, an Islander from a previous serious casually undergoes a rather monumental hair colour transformation, one that gives us total revenge vibes and casually soft launches the new look on her socials – then we might just find ourselves distracted from the current series for a hot minute (obviously, if you try and distract us between 9pm and 10pm, you're fighting a losing battle).
None other than Love Island 2017 star and All Stars finalist Georgia Harrison has successfully diverted our attention from the series 11 dramz by dying her hair full-on platinum blonde, and best of all, she's not even really acknowledged it on her Instagram (no grid post, no salon tagging etc.) – she's just carried on with her usual influencer ways. Icon behaviour from Georgia Harrison? We can't say we're surprised, to be honest.
We spotted Georgia's new blonder locks as she was promoting Soccer Aid on her Instagram story and we have to say, it's giving us a lot; it's giving summer, it's giving hot girl summer, it's giving young and free, and maybe our vibe reading is off, maybe not, but we think it's giving a little bit of revenge.
Who hasn't undergone some sort of beauty/style transformation following a messy break up or at the dawn of a new life era, and we get the vibe this is Georgia's way of saying 'WATCH OUT, SUMMER', following her wildly public split from fellow All Star Anton Danyluk several weeks back.
Georgia H and Anton faced some serious scrutiny both and in and out of the villa from the moment they decided to give things a real go on the show; with many calling the relationship a 'showmance' and calling out Georgia for stringing the Scotsman along.
Despite the backlash, the couple made it to the Love Island: All Stars final finishing in fifth place, and even continued dating IRL once the show had wrapped. However, following rife speculation that the romance had come to an end in April/May, Anton finally confirmed the split on his podcast, saying, "I just don’t think there was really that romantic spark there. We did both try. At times it was there but just not enough for it to continue as a relationship.
"Especially for Georgia, she had so many people on her side wanting it to work for her but it was just never there for her I don’t think."
While the split sounded relatively amicable at the time, tensions appear to have raised over the last few weeks, following rumoured clashes and frostiness at events and on social media and, of course, Anton's recent response to this Instagram Q&A question, "What's happening with Georgia, Anton lad?"
To which Anton replied, "She did what everyone said she would! Sometimes you learn the hard way."
Hence, revenge hair.
Right back to Love Island 2024. That's quite enough of that.
