Demi Sims rose to fame on TOWIE alongside her older sister Frankie and Chloe before appearing on shows like Eating With My Ex and Celebs Go Dating, but it turns out her reality TV career could have been VERY different.
The youngest Sims sister has revealed that she was approached for another major dating show before she appeared on TOWIE but turned it down for a very respectable reason.
We’re, of course, talking about Love Island.
That’s right, Demi has admitted that she was once set to audition for the ITV2 show but eventually turned it down because she would have only been able to date boys in the villa.
Demi, who identifies as bisexual, explained, “I was going to go for an audition for Love Island before TOWIE, but the guy who I was speaking to was like, ‘You can’t go on there and date same sex, so you’re going to have to date guys on there. Are you comfortable with doing that?’”
She told host GKBarry on the Saving Grace podcast, “For me, personally, I can’t fake a relationship with a man. It’s too long to be in the villa as well.”
Demi might not have appeared on Love Island, but she did end up dating 2018 Islander Megan Barton-Hanson after they appeared on Celebs Go Dating back in 2019. They later split when filming ended but appear to have rekindled their romance earlier this year.
Not only were the pair pictured kissing recently, but Demi also teased their reunion when she uploaded a TikTok of herself lipsyncing the words, "It would be so awesome, it would be so cool," to Megan in a post that was captioned, "Convincing your ex to get back with you 🌝🥹."
