When we think underrated Love Island stars, the name Danica Taylor definitely comes to mind. The professional dancer entered the Love Island 2022 villa as a bombshell hoping to turn heads but it went wrong when she chose to couple up with Luca Bish, who was very much laser focused on Gemma Owen at the time.
Sadly, things didn’t get much better and she coupled up with a whopping six different boys in total – including Jacques O’Neill and Billy Brown - before being dumped from the villa alongside Jamie Allen on day 51. Shortly after they left the villa, Danica split from Jamie and she’s been single ever since.
A year on, Danica thinks she worked out why she given such a rough ride in the villa, claiming that it all started when Luca refused to give her the time of day when she coupled up with him.
Speaking to Toby Aromolaran on his podcast Fancy A Chat?, Danica said, “It was the best time of my life but I feel like now I’m a little bit more settled, I’ve watched the winter one and I’m currently watching the new summer one and it’s really occurred to me how badly I was done in there. I was treated like sh*t and I’m pretty angry about it.”
She added, “There was a lot of people that definitely got away with it way too quickly or too easily. I should have been a bit more y’know, but I’m not bitter. Let bygones be bygones and all that.”
Danica told Toby that she regrets picking Luca, admitting, “It’s really hard because I actually really like Luca’s sister. Luca’s sister is really nice but Luca treated me like an absolute see you next Tuesday and I don’t really have anything too nice to say about that situation. I don’t think he’s a bad person, but I think the way that he treated me was absolutely disgusting.
“What’s upsetting is why did nobody tell him how bad it was? Why did he let me sleep in the bed alone? I was a new bombshell and that man wouldn’t even be this close to me and turn his back.”
The 2022 Islander claims that Luca’s attitude towards her “filtered down” to the other Islanders.
“If the main cool guy don’t think somebody’s worth it then some of these other guys will be like, ‘Oh, maybe she ain’t,” she explained.
