Costa Veggies Under Vests: £3.20

Parsnips have never tasted so good. The falafel and parsnip stuffing have just the right amount of spice, the carrots are cooked but still crunchy, the cranberry sauce is a triumph and there's just the right amount of mayo and spinach.

Costa Vegan Mince Tart: £2.10

Okay, we know this isn't a sandwich, but delicious vegan buttery pastry? Is there such a thing? Yes, it's in these tasty mince tarts. Definitely worth a try with one of Costa's new festive drinks.

Boots Vegan Christmas Feast: £3.00

All the best parts of your Christmas dinner in a takeaway sandwich – what's not to love? The stuffing is moist and the red cabbage tasted exactly like your nan's best recipe. The only let down is the white bread – lacks in texture for us.

Boots Vegan Christmas Market: £3.00

Hurrah! A chance to get in on some of that German Christmas Market sausage action. The vegan sausage is flavourful with a hint of spice, the sauce is tangy and cabbage surprisingly tasty. Again sadly the bread wasn't our favourite variety this year.

Waitrose No Smoked Salmon & Dill5 of 16

Waitrose No Smoked Salmon & Dill: £2.80

An inventive twist on the classic salmon and cream cheese sandwich, this vegan option is pretty tasty. The carrot is crunchy with the right amount of smoke, but the sandwich definitely could have coped with an extra spoonful of vegan cream cheese. The bread also gets top marks from us.

Wicked Kitchen Festive Feast Wrap6 of 16

Wicked Kitchen Festive Feast Wrap: £3.00

A perfectly acceptable festive wrap – but we do have a few bones (not turkey ones, we can assure you) to pick with this one. Wrapped in a grilled tortilla is pea protein "turkey", parsnips, crisp greens, sage and onion stuffing with cranberry and vegan gravy mayo. The pea protein "turkey" is a little dry and the vegan gravy mayo is a slightly odd grey hue.

PAUL All About The Sprout Baguette7 of 16

PAUL All About The Sprout Baguette: £4.25

A colourful combination of roasted Brussel sprouts, hummus, spinach, pickled red cabbage, grilled carrots and chestnuts with orange jam and chutney on an onion and sage baguette, this PAUL offering is truly delightful. The hummus gets a little lost among all the festive ingredients, but it's still delicious.

Aldi Brie & Cranberry8 of 16

Aldi Brie & Cranberry: £1.69

Another Christmas sandwich, another Brie & Cranberry. Aldi's take on this popular filling has a sweet chutney with a hint of fiery spice from the ginger and orange which contrasts nicely with the buttery brie. It's actually quite rich, a proper indulgent Christmas sarnie.

Wall's BBQ Jackfruit Rolls9 of 16

Wall's BBQ Jackfruit Rolls: £1.50

Now, these aren't strictly festive but they're fab if you're having a party and need to cater for plant-based pals. They're scrummy heated up but can be eaten cold too. The BBQ version of the rolls are filled with hickory-smoked jackfruit – meaty and quite delish.

Pret Veggie Christmas Lunch Sandwich10 of 16

Pret Veggie Christmas Lunch: £3.75

What can we say, this is a true Christmas triumph. Roasted butternut squash, delicious nutty pesto, yoghurt mayo and crispy onions adding a nice bit of salty texture. The rocket provides some much-needed freshness too - a proper Christmas feast. From each sale, 50p goes back into the Pret Foundation, which aims to 'break the cycle of homelessness'.

Sainsbury's Vegan Christmas New Yorker: £11 of 16

Sainsbury's Vegan Christmas New Yorker: £2.25

Vegan cheese with flavour? It's a rare thing to find, but luckily this Sainsbury's sarnie has it. The mustard is tangy and the cabbage has a pickle-y punch too. Overall we were super impressed by this take on a classic New Yorker – makes a change from the sea of brie...

Pret Brie, Pistachio & Cranberry Baguette12 of 16
CREDIT: Closer

Pret Brie, Pistachio & Cranberry Baguette: £3.99

Plenty of creamy brie, seasonally appropriate cranberry and pistachio, and all the brilliance of a standard Pret baguette. Maybe could have done with a smidge more cranberry sauce, but a very sensible Christmassy option for your lunch, one for the Pret traditionalist. From each sale, 50p goes back into the Pret Foundation, which aims to 'break the cycle of homelessness'.

Pret Very Merry Christmas Vegan Lunch Sandwich13 of 16

Pret Very Merry Christmas Lunch: £3.75

Stuffed with grilled carrots, spinach, crispy onions, vegan stuffing, caramelised pecans and port and orange cranberry sauce, this is a proper grown-up sammich. There's just the right amount of sauce and the onions and nuts add a nice bit of texture. From each sale, 50p goes back into the Pret Foundation, which aims to 'break the cycle of homelessness'.

Morrison's Wensleydale & Spiced Fruit Chutney Roll: £314 of 16

Morrison's Wensleydale & Spiced Fruit Chutney Roll: £3

Well, this is basically just a jazzy cheese and pickle roll, but we're very much here for it. The Wensleydale is tangy, the fruit chutney is sweet and spicy, and the creamy cheddar mix is a great addition that stops the roll from being too dry. It doesn't look particularly appetising, but it's tasty and the panettone bread is a nice touch too.

Morrison's No Turkey Feast: £315 of 16
CREDIT: Closer

Morrison's No Turkey Feast: £3

A take on the classic post-crimbo-lunch sandwich, this Morrison's offering has meat-free turkey-style pieces, carrot strips, red cabbage, chutney, crispy onions and spinach. The 'turkey' was surprisingly flavourful and the ratio of cabbage to spinach was good, but a little vegan mayo wouldn't have gone amiss to moisten things up.

Coco Di Mama Very Merry Vegan Ciabatta Sandwich: £4.25

If we were judging by bread - this one would win by a country mile. Soft and delicious, we are fully on board with the ciabatta sandwich. The filling is tasty too - more than enough mayo, spicy rocket and tasty smoked plant-based bacon. There were a couple of unwelcome crunchy peppercorns, but other than that, we're sold.

The Christmas vibes are coming in thick and fast this month – we're already on the lookout for soap Christmas spoilers.

This year’s Eastenders festive episodes will see Keanu Taylor in a bit of a pickle – he's cheated on his fiancé with his step-mum. Oh dear.

Both Sharon and Louise are seven and a half months pregnant, which means the pair are both likely to have Christmas bundles of joy this year.

Keanu is also set to leave Eastenders at the end of the year – the jury’s still out on the nature of his exit, but we reckon a murder is on the cards for the two-timing mechanic.
