Victoria Beckham: ‘I know this has to end’

Posh and Becks have been taking some much needed time off work

With all the money in the world and no pressing work commitments right now, Victoria and David Beckham have done what most people would do in their position – enjoy a seemingly endless summer holiday. The couple took their four children – Brooklyn, 20, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 14, and eight-year-old Harper – plus various family members and friends to Italy for an extended break.

And, boy, did they live their absolute best lives, especially after a turbulent couple of years for Posh and Becks. But, despite enjoying being able to relax with her husband and family in the surroundings of their luxurious mountain-top villa, we’re told Victoria is worried her happiness is about to come crashing down.

“Vic is already feeling nostalgic for what she has called the ‘best summer ever’,” an insider told heat magazine. “It really has been perfect and Vic’s gutted that it’s drawing to a close – she’s already trying to recapture it. Despite some drama with Brooklyn amid speculation his relationship is ending, they had a blast.

They laughed a lot, had new experiences and had a lot of fun with the kids, as well as spending lots of quality and romantic time together as a couple. Now, she’s just concerned about how long this happiness can last – she knows it has to end as they go back to their normal, far-too-busy lives.”

During their time in Italy, the whole family took time to show off what an incredible time they were having on Instagram – eating delicious-looking food, drinking wine, swimming in the pool, horse riding, mountain trekking, boat trips and a spa day for Posh and Harper.

This trip came after a family holiday to Miami and time spent in their Cotswolds home in England. And we’re told Posh felt she could really relax after taking a step away from her fashion business earlier this year.

“For the first time in a long time, Vic was able to take proper time off work,” we’re told. “She has new creative teams in place, as well as the investment company running her business – and she’s finally accepted they can all do their jobs without constant supervision from her.

"This was part of the reason she sold half of it, so she could step back and focus on enjoying her personal time, too – and it felt good to do it for the first time, knowing that everything with the business is running as it’s supposed to. Vic’s normally glued to her phone, constantly checking up on things, meaning she could sometimes feel a bit distant from the rest of the family when they went on holiday.”

The insider adds Victoria’s relaxed attitude allowed her and David to really reconnect as a couple, especially as they have spent so much time away from each other due to work commitments.

“She and David had a lot of fun all summer and really felt close, as a couple and a family,” our insider continues. “But the best thing about it was that they actually cut loose a bit, getting tipsy and joking that they should have been doing this all along. They were basically saying, ‘What a pair of idiots we’ve been. We should have been kicking back, drinking Champagne for breakfast every day and having fun, instead of being the rich fools, who have been working all hours and not had time to enjoy it.’

"They realised they’d never really let themselves just live it up – like all the other millionaires do.

“Instead, they’ve been working all the time and getting stressed, so they were keen to make up for lost time and just enjoy it.”

However, the insider adds that Victoria’s well aware all this could change soon. David is set to leave for Miami to oversee the launch of his football team– who are now just months away from playing their first game – and she starts promoting her new beauty line, something that is very close to her heart.

“Come September, when David jets off again, Vic is aware everything could go back to how it was,” says the source. “She knows it could revert to how it was before they went on holiday – to the 20-hour days and never seeing each other – and those moments of rediscovery and romance will be forgotten.

“She’s dreading them becoming like strangers again, and just wishes there were a way to stay in the moment.”
