She recently became engaged to her partner of three years, Ercan Ramadan. But while Vicky Pattison says she isn’t ready to start a family just yet, the former Geordie Shore star is still thinking ahead to the future.
Last week, Vicky – who previously said she didn’t want children – revealed she is freezing her eggs in the hope she can one day have a baby with her builder beau, 28.
In an Instagram post to her five million followers, Vicky, 34, wrote, “I remember years ago saying that I didn’t think I wanted to be a mother – I was in my twenties and woefully arrogant enough to think that I wouldn’t change my mind!
“But what you want out of life changes. The late nights didn’t do it for me any more… I also met someone I love who makes me feel safe and who will be a good dad.”
Vicky added that becoming an auntie to niece Mavie in 2020 also inspired her change of heart, saying Mavie is “a tiny person who’s shown me the terrifying amount of love I’m capable of feeling for someone”.
She continued, “I’m finally in a place where my heart wants to have children, my head knows it’s not necessarily the right moment for us and, unfortunately, my body doesn’t have the luxury of loads of time... F---ing Mother Nature, eh? So today I took my first step towards freezing my eggs.”
After starting the journey at the London Women’s Clinic, Vicky assured her fans that “everything looks fine and there are no irregularities – which is a good sign for egg retrieval”. She also urged any followers worried about infertility to undergo tests as “it can be scary, but knowledge is power”.
While she’s now sure that Ercan is “The One”, Vicky was wary about welcoming a child into the world in the past because of her turbulent love life.
After a string of romances – including her Geordie Shore co-star Ricci Guarnaccio, reality star Stephen Bear, and Made In Chelsea alumni Spencer Matthews – Vicky suffered heartache in 2018 when her relationship with then-fiancé John Noble broke down after he was caught getting cosy with a mystery blonde.
Appearing on Loose Women in 2016, Vicky had admitted, “If I’m honest, I don’t want kids. I’m only 28 and I’m not looking for a husband, but I’m not messing about with a load of Mr Right Nows. I’d have to tell them that I don’t see kids in my future.”
And a year later, the straight-talking star added, “They [kids] get on my t--s. I love [John] and his company but I’m not prepared to carry something for nine months which would ruin my body, steal my career and destroy my vagina!”
